You Think Republicans Are Falling Off The Tree?
The fickle base of the Republican Party seems to be deserting in droves - the Chimp's poll numbers tell the story. It might not be as rosy as it seems though.

What do you think the result would be if Ronald Reagan ran against Bill Clinton tomorrow? I think it would be a dead tie, 50/50 right down the middle. The meanness is still there, its just the poster boy who is falling.

2. These people are still going to line up to vote (R)....
They'll convince themselves and others that it really was just Bush and that he really was an anomoly in the republican party. But THIS guy...this next one....HE'S the real deal.

3. If They Want A Mean Little Bastard That's What They'll Get
I agree with you. This mean little bastard they have in there now is going to fall, but his time was up anyway. They may see him as a fallen star but they will rally behind the next mean little bastard to stick his head up and yell Yahoooooooo. And if the man - or woman - can add a sly little Klan-sympathetic-looking nod, nod, wink, wink to stick with the Southern Strategy, well, so much the better for the GOP.

4. 80% of gops still approve of *
The base is staying with him. Now it may be that a lot of the "independents" are actually gops but don't want tell the pollster that they are gops. They are the sad types who still bought into the anti-liberal messages.
