My 11 year old daughter on the Yellow "Ribbons"...
I was dropping my 11 year old daughter off at school. There was a "support our troops" ribbon on the van in front of us in line. The ribbon's original yellow had faded from exposure to the elements of nature until it was nearly white. My daughter noticed it and pointed it out to me saying, "Dad, do you see that ribbon on the car in front of us, how it has faded?" I answered, "yes, what about it?" She said, "that tells you that the war has been going on for a real long time." I said, "yeah, it's been going on too long." She said, "Duuuuhhh!"

Out of the mouths of children comes much wisdom!

30. If a Dem president had been running the war
that title would have been a "hit country song" by now, courtesy of Clear Channel Worldwide . . .

2. Wow.
That's a very smart young woman you're raising.

I never thought of it that way before... the fading ribbons are indicative of how long this awful war has been raging, as well as how much the support of it has eroded.

Thank you for sharing that, rateyes!!

38. Yes!
I feel like the people of our country are Rip Van Winkle, just waking up from a bad dream! :) They're realizing what these idiots have done, and are planning to do...

I have hope. I like Howard Dean, and he seems like he's trying to get us back to our center - ethics, working wages for the common people, diplomacy instead of open warfare as a foreign policy, did I mention ETHICS (lol)...

18. My 11 year old niece said "WHEN is this war going to be over?"
Her parents are Repubs and voted for Bush. We had been listening to the news. I was going to say something like: "When we get rid of Bush!" but she was so distressed - I just tried to comfort her. If she were a little older and close to voting age - I would have given her an earful.

After 9/11 - she told my dad "Grampa, You're lucky you're 81. YOU won't have to live in thise world much long. I'm going to be stuck here for a long time."

Pity these poor kids who have to grow up with the legacy of BushCo - despite the fact her parents voted for Bush. I won't have a lot of pity for them when they see the effects - but she didn't vote for the guy. My guess is that she will end up being a Democrat - because she is quite a non-comformist and doesn't really succomb to peer pressure.

48. I feel sorry for my grand nieces and nephews.
They will be stuck with the bill for cleaning up this mess. Their mothers and grandparents voted for the moron. My nephew was smart enough to back Kerry in this past election. Of course, my sister couldn't believe it that her son was a Kerry supporter. They were a Republican family and therefore they're voting for Bush.

My brother-in-law: "Democrats will raise my taxes." Guess what, dear Brother-in-law. We'll have to raise taxes to payoff the deficit the moron and his sycophants have put upon us.

Other questions: How do you like paying $2.50-$3 a gallon for gas?
How do you like having a deficit so large that your children or grand-children will have to pay it off?

33. My 12 & 9 y/o's are clever little Progressives.
It amazes me--the clarity with which children see things--my only fear is they'll rebel and become--GASP--Repubs. If they stay the current course one or both will be holding public office in about 20 years. Perhaps our girls will share a ticket one day, rateyes!

if I'm living and I learn they ever voted for a Repig, I will have to "ground" them. :)

Rateyes was a nickname I received in Junior High. Even my coaches called me that! Faded away in HS, though. Just thought it would be a "different" moniker.

It seems that we have a whole bunch of kids here that are awake and speaking of what they are seeing around them.

Please tell her for me that I agree and join her in a loud "Duhhhhhhhhh!" that she can figure it out but the powers in Washington can't.

Be proud poppa ... you've a bright daughter there! :hi:

39. I saw one car with like 7 differnet ribbons
yellow, pink, and american flag colors.

I wanted to so bad turn down the window, ask them to roll their down, and shout,

"hey, how is that war going...oh yeah...I heard their KICKING YOUR ASS ALL THROUGH BAGHDAD".

I really get so steamed when I see those dumb ribbons.

45. You got me...
the ribbon on my wife's car was purchased from a liberal leaning web site, is purple, and says, "support peace." I don't buy those magnetic ribbons---the profit, I assume, goes into the pockets of the people selling the ribbons---and, they're probably made in China.

If you take the time from the bombing of Pearl Habor to being 9/11 by this time we would have already of seen the surrenders of both the Third Reich and the Empire of Japan.
