Spoke with an Iraq War II vet today |
|
He is a teacher in my county, recently retired from another state. He is a geezer like me, and he was in the Guard and called up. He's been back since April.
I asked his true opinion of what is going on over there. He told me he had supported Bush in the beginning (even though, to be honest, he ID's himself as a Dem) but that we should have come home last year.
He worked in Baghdad in some sort of headquarters..I know I sound stupid there, but I don't follow the whole military thing.
Anyway, he believes now that Bush has let everyone down, especially those over there. But his concern is that we have so much invested financially and in blood that he just doesn't see how we are going to get out of it. He said we shouldn't have gone.
This might not be worth a post, but he is the first older vet I have talked to about things. Most of the other ones I've chatted with were former students who were very idealistic and gung ho and always up for breaking stuff and killing folks. (shudder)

It's good to get the view from inside the volcano... :(
I wish they were all home now... What a waste of human life.
