Randi Rhodes says we weren't suppose to see the STAGED meeting |
|
Edited on Fri Oct-14-05 02:23 PM by in_cog_ni_to
REHERSAL with the soldiers yesterday. She's saying they put it up on the satellite when they weren't suppose to and the press "accidentally" on purpose (by someone) had access??? LOL! I thought they gave the press access to that? If what Randi says is true, the WH has-got-to-be-pissed-as-HELL! LOL! I love this!
edited to include that it was the rehersal that wasn't suppose to be seen. :hi:

Why would Bush do this to himself? They're getting very sloppy. So someone else had to do this.

If the WH didn't want anyone to see it, it would have been encrypted.
I think there must be more to this story.

5. Oh, I don't know. We buy sports packages for our cable |
|
And we sees stuff like this all the time, when they are setting stuff up.
Once we heard Brent MSU-burger yelling at Cheryl Miller off-air for saying someone had a head injury before they knew for sure.
Later on, we heard him mocking her during another break.

18. I loved the old satellite days |
|
pre-packages when you jsut dialed on and got the signal - I used to go to this bar and watch Houston Rocket games. During half-time all they did was train the camera on the floor and you would watch the guys sweep the court and the announcers talk basketball, personalities and about what was going on in their own respective families. They either didn't know they were on the air or simply forgot. Sometimes some funny stuff. Well, its seems that way, I watched at the bar and well, anyway, it was funny at the time.

and the other day, we saw some Michigan pre-game stuff - the band - while they were setting up.
We see it in hockey in the St. Louis feed!

8. Well she is probably going on the logic that they couldn't have MEANT for |
|
people to see the rehearsal. I can't imagine that it was intentional. Unless they thing we are more stupid and gullable than I thought before. I bet it was "accidently" broadcast out to the media from some within the media who had access to the rehearsal feed- it seems the media is becoming less forgiving of bushco!

9. We weren't supposed to see the rehersal |
|
I doubt it was accidentally put on the satellite early. The rehersal wasn't intended to be broadcast, though. It's routine for satellite feeds to begin broadcasting quite a while before they go on air, so those using the feed can get their 'dials' adjusted ahead of time.
In fact, there's an excellent documentary out there called 'Spin' from the 1992 campaign showing pre-broadcast satellite captures of various politicians (picking their teeth, chatting with staff, etc...).
What the problem was, was that the white house insisted on stating that it was a spontaneous Q&A. If they hadn't pushed that lie so hard, the press might have given them a walk on it.

10. Scottie was very determined yesterday to talk about the |
|
challenges of setting up a "live feed" like that at his press conference. I thought it was odd that he was attempting to explain that to news people who could use those feeds all the time.
If they understood the technology of our times, rather than being afraid of it, they wouldn't get themselves into these messes so often.

13. I will take a guess as to what happened |
|
The feed was set up by the PENTAGON. Someone in the ASD's shop, the public affairs arm, flipped the switch a bit earlier than they should have (they would have to do this anyway) so that the networks who were receiving the feed could test the connection before going live, and just left the damn thing on. On purpose? Who knows. Bless the person with their hand on the button!!!!
Those cameras that recorded the images were not run by the networks, they were just receiving the feed. The camera operators were government, not network.

14. Welcome to the beginning of Bush without Rove! |
|
You can see how much influence and control Rove has had now that he's not there - at least not nearly as much. Did we EVER see something like this happen before? Nope.
Bush is going down and Rove will not be there to save him! He is gonna crash and burn.

When is the last time our military WON a war? And don't give me the BS about the Gulf War in 1992, because that was barely a skirmish, and if we'd won it, we wouldn't be there now.

So take that for what you may want to believe, and I mean three and four star Admirals...

I was Navy Public afairs, and you practice presentations, but you don't script answers, and then you don't pretend it isn't scripted.
But this is the new military. Or I should say the "'s military wing.

Edited on Fri Oct-14-05 02:52 PM by Hubris Heaver
they could handle the truth. G Dubious Shrubler can't. The sad fact is that these soldiers are in a position that if they do something that pisses of the CIC, they might expect extra dangerous duty. Practicing their answers, whether they believe in the mission or not, is wisely self preservative. It sucks.

who gives his/her subordinates scripts to read from when holding a meeting. If you already have the answers scripted, the meeting is a waste of time. This was a photo-op, nothing more. The soldiers were props, nothing more. That they were glad to be props for this failed president is just sad...

31. The rehearsal probably isn't even the most staged part |
|
I'm guessing that each one of those military people were chosen because they are totally behind George W. Bush to begin with. Think they were randomly selected?
It looks bad to see the rehearsal, so it's good that it leaked for sure, but the worst part is that there was probably nobody in that group that would have a serious question for, let alone a critique of, let alone major issues with Bush or the war, whether or not they were rehearsed or scripted.
Once again it is the same as the game the media plays on America: context. Who they talk to and what they talk about are fully controlled. After that's all in place, everybody is free to give their honest opinion, as Scottie so defensively retorted to his questioners yesterday.

They've gotten away with so much for so long, and the media have just looked the other way, that there was no reason for them to think that anyone would catch them or if they did that they'd say anything about it.
Randi just called it the best script scandal for the GOP since Rush was caught doctor-shopping to feed his oxycontin habit. Hee, hee.
