"...and absolute power corrupts absolutely"
Up to this point, the Bush Administration has wielded "absolute power". With little challenge from a timid press and an even more timid opposition, they have had free reign to do whatever they want for the last 4 years. Why should they think they are going to be called on anything now?

With Tom Delay strutting around like a rooster, with his cigar stinking up his trail, and Bill Frist and Dick Cheney making fortunes off their "investments" that should have been in a blind trust, and with Republican Congressmen selling their influence to defense contractors for special favors, and with Bush and Cheney and all their lackeys lying and distorting to put us into an unnecessary war, the corruption has reached levels not seen in a very long time, if ever.

But, there is a hopeful sign that this may be turning around. The media has been reporting on Delay and Frist and the CIA leak and the staged photo op by Bush with the troops in Iraq. They have been challenged for the last couple of weeks. Their absolute power does not seem so absolute anymore. There may still be hope for our country.

1. Lord Acton, it's my tag line...he said, "power tends to corrupt and
absolute power corrupts absolutely" (meaning without a doubt and it certainly happens, it doesn't "tend" to corrupt with absolute power...it does corrupt. No "ifs" about it.

2. I'm rethinking the whole concept of a president
what I do know is that power must be removed from the US presidency -- so that that will be no future bushies.

Balance of power as conceived by the founding fathers can't work when congress abdicated their role to the Prez.

But right now bushie (the worst and dumbest) has absolute power and he was corrupt before he stole the white house and so now he is absolutely corrupt. Plus nuts -- since he is telling people that god talks to him. However, the "god" is probably whoever has the microphone for his ear piece.
