Don Wildmon vs. "Girls, Inc."
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/national/1110AP_American_Girl_Protest.html

American Girl, manufacturer of a highly popular line of dolls and children's books, has become the target of conservative activists threatening a boycott unless the toy maker cuts off contributions to a youth organization that supports abortion rights and acceptance of lesbians.

The protest is directed at an ongoing American Girl campaign in which proceeds from sales of a special "I Can" wristband help support educational and empowerment programs of Girls Inc., a national nonprofit organization which describes its mission as "inspiring girls to be strong, smart and bold."

..."We are profoundly disappointed that certain groups have chosen to misconstrue American Girl's purely altruistic efforts and turn them into a broader political statement on issues that we, as a corporation, have no position," the statement said.

The Mississippi-based American Family Association, in a campaign launched Wednesday, is urging its members to demand that American Girl halt support for Girls Inc..."Let American Girl know they are making a terrible mistake," AFA chairman Don Wildmon said in a statement. The AFA says it has more than 2.2 million members.

Apparently Donald Wildmon doesn't like this:

Sexuality

Girls Incorporated encourages all girls to develop positive sexual identities and to function comfortably as responsible sexual beings. We recognize that the family is the primary source of information about sex and we help girls and young women communicate with their families about sexuality.

To make responsible decisions about sexuality, pregnancy and parenthood, girls need and have a right to sensitive, truthful sexuality education; convenient access to safe, effective methods of contraception and protection from disease; and referral to comprehensive information, counseling, clinical and other services that support their responsible decisions. We recognize that any sizable group of girls includes those who face issues related to their sexual orientation or that of a family member and who face discrimination based on this sexual orientation. Girls have a right to positive, supportive environments and linkages to community resources for dealing with issues of sexual orientation.

Reproductive Freedom

Girls Incorporated affirms that girls and young women should make responsible decisions about sexuality, pregnancy and parenthood.

We recognize the right of all women to choose whether, when, and under what circumstances to bear children. Reproductive freedom and responsibility are essential to other rights and opportunities, including pursuit of education, employment, financial security and a stable and fulfilling family life. Restrictions of reproductive choice are especially burdensome for young women and poor women. Girls Incorporated supports a woman’s freedom of choice, a constitutional right established by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1973 in Roe vs. Wade.

1. Boycott it then...
Chances are the people who he speaks for wouldn't want their girls to be anything more than servile twits to misogynistic fundementalist men.

2. Wildmon is no doubt threatened by girls taught to use their brains ...
Perhaps American Girl should bring out a line of berka-dressed dolls that would be more along the lines of Wildmon's tastes.

_______________

I'm not sure they will wake up. From just a preliminary search, it looks like the support for Girls Inc started about the same time as some partnership they made with Clear Channel.

Clear Channel has been involved with a number of lefty scam systems. Especially commercial money laundering with advertising. So I think they got into bed with snakes.

These companies think there is more money in supporting abortionists, perverts and atheists than Chrisitians. It is good to boycott this crap because that is the only message they know and it how the libs have taken over most of these companies today. The diversity mantra is a lib/communist program used to divide us and keep us suspicious about each other and generate hate.

4. Disgusting repressed repressers
Screw these fundamentalists fascist wannabes. Enough already. It's on all of us to counter the idiot fringe with messages of support to people/orgaizations that the Unchristians target.
These creeps seems to latch on anything sexual - sign of a repressed, twisted mind, IMO.

5. Let's quote George Carlin from his 1988 Show.
"The FCC, an appointed body, not elected. . .answerable only to the President, decided on its own that radio and television were the only to parts of American life not protected by the free speech provision of the first amendment to the constitution. And why did they decide that?

Cause they got a letter from a minister in Mississippi. A reverand Donald Wildmon heard something on the radio that he didn't like. Well, Reverand, did anyway ever tell you there are two knobs on the radio? But I'm sure the good Reverand isn't comfortable with anything that has two knobs on it. But it's true, there are two knobs on the radio. One of them turns the radio off, and the other. . .changes the station. Look at that Reverand, you can actually change the station. It's called freedom of choice and it's one of the principles this country was founded upon.

Look it up in the library, Reverend, if you have any of them left when you're finished burning all the books."

CLASSIC CARLIN still applies today.

FUCK DONALD WILDMON!!!

7. Actually, they did call him Wildman in high school . . .
I grew up in the same tiny Mississippi town as Wildmon. He hung out a little with my older brother. (Okay, it was a VERY small town--everybody knew everybody else.) I still remember going to the Methodist Church, where our Don was an usher. Had a creepy, brown-shirt kind of militaristic body language even then. I can't say from personal knowledge, but I've heard that his father worked with the Public Health service, including tracking STDs. Maybe he'd come home and tell Don that his little weenie would fall off if he ever did anything nasty with girls.

Anyway, one of the top officials in his AFA got into big trouble for having kiddie porn on his home computer. AFA is based in Tupelo, MS, which is a center for furniture factories. They have regular shows there and local people often get out of town and rent their houses for big bucks to visiting furniture buyers. The AFA guy rented out his house, the person staying there got on his computer and out spilled the kiddie porn. The perp was wiped from the AFA organizational chart in a nanosecond.
