But let us set partisanship aside for a moment.....

If you had a chance to come up with a set of talking points for the democrats to form a working strategy to move America forward - what would they be?

What vision do you have for a better, more progressive America?
What is your version of "The REAL deal?"

Universal medicare?
Universal education including the university level?
What specific policies to put in place to fight poverty - grow the middle class?
What specific policies to address security?
What specific policies to address the deficit?

I would also add that the tax benefits for outsourcing American jobs need to be stopped. Not only stopped, but create penalties for outsourcing jobs! (not that I feel strongly about that)

The middle class is the backbone of this country and this administration is destroying it.

5. I'd settle for a list of things I DON'T want....

Giant deficits.

Dead American soldiers.

Dead Iraqis.

Being unable to hold up my head anywhere outside the U.S..

Destruction of the environment at every opportunity.

Destruction of every worker protection possible.

Destruction of the public school system at every turn.

Destruction of the U.N..

Attacks on women's reproductive freedom.

Attacks on civil liberties.

Giant tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy for no help at all for the poor.

Use of the memory the 9/11 attacks and fear of more "terra" for political purposes.

Poor, elderly and infirm people abandoned in a flooded city.

If the next democratic Congress and President can at least stop the insanity, the entire world will rejoice!

1. Repeal the bankruptcy law. Not only that. Make it EASIER for people in debt to file for Chapter 7.

2. Cut the military budget in half over 5 years, with 1/2 of the savings going to the deficit, the other half going to a Manhattan project to find clean, renewable sources of energy.

3. A promise to bring the troops home from Iraq within a year.

4. Revisit campaign finance reform. Limit the amount that corporate donors can give to any campaign.

5. A constitutional amendment that corporations cannot be construed as being at all equal in rights to individuals.

6. Make corporations who ship jobs oversees pay for it.

7. Repeal Bush's tax cuts, and raise taxes on the wealthy to regain what was lost and increase revenues. Target the revenues to poor school districts for construction and repair, after school programs, etc.

8. A private savings account of $500 for each child born in poverty (one per mother) that is accessible at the age of 21 as long as the child graduates from high school. At 8% interest with no additional deposits, the child would have over $2600. If he or she did not touch it for 65 years, that is almost $90K How's that for wealth building!

9. A national urban renewal program with an emphasis on building affordable housing.
