FLACK ALERT....FLACK ALERT...staged propaganda info
The videoconference his handlers set up with U.S. soldiers in Iraq was staged, as the AP's Deb Reichmann just pointed out.

But here's another part of the flack attack you may not know: The soldier on the left side of the front row was actually a flack herself, though she didn't reveal it during the regime's 24-minute infomercial.

Her name is Corine Lombardo, and I hope she stays safe in Iraq. It's a dangerous place even for flacks. But the fact is, as my sharp-eyed colleague David Axe tipped me, Lombardo probably sees more action watching CNN than action.

Does the Govt really think we're all that freakin' stupid??? The people doing the fighting and dying deserve better than a scripted performance by a PR hack. Such bullshit.

45. They did. She's PAO - public affairs office - and I learned that on CNN
Edited on Sat Oct-15-05 04:28 PM by Hissyspit
Headline News, when they interviewed her and she defended the sincerity of the videoconference. It's the journalist/propagandist job in the Army. I don't think anyone, including her, tried to hide the fact she was PAO when asked, but I'm sure they didn't particularly want to call attention to it, either.

But it is pathetic, not because a PAO soldier didn't deserve to have a say about the situation in Iraq, but within the context of the rest of the artificiality and insincerity of the propaganda/photo-op attempt.

What I MOST noticed was that there weren't any African-American soldiers represented.

9. Teleconference Hackery

The Village Voice is reporting that a public affairs officer was part of the group of soldiers that President Bush talked to. Her name is Corine Lombardo who works for the military as spokesperson to the media.

Village Voice: The videoconference his handlers set up with U.S. soldiers in Iraq was staged, as the AP's Deb Reichmann just pointed out. But here's another part of the flack attack you may not know: The soldier on the left side of the front row was actually a flack herself, though she didn't reveal it during the regime's 24-minute infomercial....read on"

36. Yes. BUT she is not working on the streets or doing more than writing.
She takes reporters to lunch, and she writes rah-rah press releases all day. She lives in a safe, fortified compound in Tikrit, and does not work on the streets. She is a PUBLIC RELATIONS person... not a soldier in the sense that we think of soldiers, if that makes sense. In other words, she may be techinically called a soldier, but she does not ride around in the streets or is basically not in harm's way and has no feeling for the pulse of the citizens.. she just writes about them.

57. I thought Republicans played the "not really a soldier" game
Edited on Sun Oct-16-05 11:28 AM by davepc
Why swift boat this woman? Yes she's in the Army. Yes she's a Public Affairs officer and not a ground pounding trigger puller, but she's just as much a part of the US Army as the man or woman next to her. And she happens to be deployed to a combat zone.

Her job, by the way is not that much different then the one Al Gore had in Vietnam, as far as her duties are concerned. And we all know what Repulicans said about his military service. "Didn't really fight" "Had a safe job in the rear" blah blah blah.

I'm not defending Bush's publicity stunt, or his use of US Army soldiers as propaganda props (even if the soldiers are willing participants) but lets leave the 'NAH NAH NAH They weren't REALLY soldiers!!!' crap to the Republicans.

Yea the last 6 years or so have felt like a bad prank show. I would only hope that the American Public has been Punk'ed and Al Gore is going to step out from the hidden door and say "SYKE!". But no we get a peanut gallery that thinks that everyone else is stupid. They think they can do anything and say anything and the American people either aren't paying attention or won't understand to even care. The irony is that an act of God or mother nature for my atheist friends has put him out there. I think if Katrina hadn't happened the majority Bush lackeys would still have their heads up his ass. What Karma.

Honestly, this entire Admin has been a series of bad shows, especially of late.

"Crossing Over" with Bill Frist (he can diagnose your sick relatives with a five-minute video clip, and is able to look into a blind trust and know EXACTLY what stock is about to take a nose-dive.)

"Truth or Dare with Donny Rumsfled": He does NONE of the truth-telling, and the soldiers DARE to try and stay alive w/o body armour, etc.

I understand the Faux Network was planning a political talk show to counter Bill Mahr's "Real Time". It was going to be called "Time DeLay", later changed to "Blunt Speaking" -- the whole concept is now on hiatis while they attempt to find a Repug who ISN'T likely to be caught up in some major scandal before they can start taping.

What I'd really like to see is "Survivor - NOLA" Let's put the entire Admin in New Orleans and watch to see who ditches who first. (Of course, the Bush Baby's obvious skill with a hammer is going to give him the edge, but ...)
