My response to a Republican
Edited on Fri Oct-14-05 10:19 PM by KingFlorez
On another board I read, there was a discussion of Bush's poor numbers amongst blacks and a freeper threw this out:

"Only five percent of blacks voted for Reagan.

Blacks don't like republicans. They prefer being told how victimized they are by dems who use them as their mulch for power.

It has always been mind boggling to me how blacks don't hate the idiocy of liberals which teaches that they are hopeless and cant be successful on their own merit."

My reponse:

You know what? I've heard this lame conservative argument time and time again and it's a bunch of bull. Liberals believe in funding our schools and creating jobs, two things Republicans don't know how to do and things that are important to African Americans. Plus, progressive ideology is responsible for the blacks that have success now and they still vote for Democrats. African Americans can't hate something that is a figment of conservative imagination, i.e. teaches that they are hopeless and cant be successful on their own merit. People want to move forward, not backward.

1. "You're just trying to confuse the issue"
-That's what I suspect to hear back in some form or another.

5. Yeah...
Thats probably what they are going to say, or they will throw some other rhetorical line that doesn't answer anything, and only makes their thinking appear thin, and unbased.

2. Excellent rebuttal
but if your freep opponent is that delusional, he'll just read it and reply with more slogans, platitudes, and talking points.

3. No...
His freep opponent won't "read it" at all...

'He' might see it... but there will be no reading or other such comprehension.

4. That sounds like the old tired saw
that because the Democrats' base includes the poor that the party keeps them that way; otherwise, they'd lose their base. :wtf:

6. His reply
"Give me a break. You only pretend to care. Republicans want an evil playing field for everybody.

You need blacks to be poor otherwise you would never win an election.

They are pets to liberals. Like dogs. Liberals dont think of blacks on their level. They let them think they are helpless fools being taken advantage of by the rich. GET REAL!!

IF YOU PAY PEOPLE TO BE POOR THEY WILL STAY POOR.

Martin Luther King once said. "I have a dream that Men will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.:

To their shame Liberals still judge people by skin color."
