Can I ask a stupid question here? Ho do you get the cool pictures and

crazy toons by what you write?

Thanks for the help I knew it had to be easy, but I never had time to explore with all of the discussions here.

1. Please restate that question

2. Go to "Options" (at top of the page)

Click on "Edit your profile" (left hand side)

You'll see:

"Avatar Image
You can choose from following images or upload your own. To use your uploaded avatar, add the following ..."

You can pick one of the avatars available, or if you donate, you can upload your own.

Follow the instructions and you'll be all set.

3. You mean the pics to the left of the writing?

If that's what you mean, that is an avatar. You have to set up your account that way; you can also put a saying in a signature line that will show up on the bottom of every post you make, and there's another section, I think they call it message, or something similar, that you can put a quote or saying in. Click on options, and there's a menu where you can edit all the info that shows up on your account. Do that and look around to see all the options.
BTW, all that stuff will disappear when we go into Level 1,2, or 3, because when the site is really busy they have to cut down on the less important things.

5. If you mean a pic embedded in a post, the DU software will look

for a url that ends in .jpg or .gif and probably others and just render it. For example, Suppose I see this cool pic on a web page, I can right click it, see properties, and paste the url in my post like this:
