CRAP. Is DeLay Going to Walk?
Edited on Sat Oct-15-05 08:40 AM by Skinner
DeLay's prosecutors lack a key document

AUSTIN - Travis County prosecutors admitted Friday they lack physical proof of a list of Republican candidates that is at the heart of money-laundering indictments against U.S. Rep. Tom DeLay and two of his associates.

The list is key to prosecutors being able to prove that corporate money that could not be legally spent on Texas candidates was specifically exchanged at the national level for donations that legally could be spent on Republican candidates for the Texas House.

Indictments against DeLay, Jim Ellis and John Colyandro state that Ellis gave "a document that contained the names of several candidates for the Texas House" to a Republican National Committee official in 2002 in a scheme to swap $190,000 in restricted corporate money for the same amount of money from individuals that could be legally used by Texas candidates.

But prosecutors said Friday in court that they only had a "similar" list and not the one allegedly received by then-RNC Deputy Director Terry Nelson. Late in the day, they released a list of 17 Republican candidates, but only seven are alleged to have received money in the scheme.

5. The problem was Ron Earle !
From the look of this article it looks like Earle overplayed his hand. I can't believe he didn't have better shit on DeLay. For 2 over 2 years we were told he had Delay nailed... lied to again.

I fear that this will give Delay more power than ever and Earle has lost a lot of credibility if not all of it.

"But prosecutors said Friday in court that they only had a "similar" list and not the one allegedly received by then-RNC Deputy Director Terry Nelson. Late in the day, they released a list of 17 Republican candidates, but only seven are alleged to have received money in the scheme."

Unless the GJ believes the Nelson testimony,he will never be able to go at him again.

This is a rough and tumble game and you can't just do head fakes like Earle has done... He blew it!

7.  Earle is no dummy, Delay is a crook. That much we DO know. Delay's
not getting off hook by waving a newspaper article in Earle's face.

9. how fucking predictable.
L. Ron Hubbard, that bloated dead sack of pigshit, used to counsel: "always attack, never defend."

It looks like Delay's minions and mongrels have adopted a similar stance. Fucking pathetic.

10. No, no, no...
We don't know a thing right now. Do NOT underestimate Earle. I don't know where you live, but here in Texas he's highly respected as very capable. Don't fall for the defendents' attempts to try this case in the media and poison the jury pool.

And trying verrrrry hard to paint the perception he did. Tom Delay needs K-Y Jelly. Pass it around to the rest in the GOP. They are gonna need it.

get off the hook for whatever on this earth, from ..."i don't remember where i was the day kennedy was shot...", to "i was out of the loop", to "i'm too busy clearing brush and getting on with my life to meet with cindy sheehan," to, "inmy heart i care about people, ", to, "no it ain't beer, it is tea ..." why wouldn't dealy get away with shit. he is being protected by the bush crime family.

4. IF Rove and Delay walk, will their brushes with the law curb
their bad behavior or empower them since they got off?

them to testify during a trial.

11. Question every report. Who is the writer? What is his proof?
Is the reporter just another bought and paid for shill for DeLay? Seems to me like fake news reports about missing documents is exactly type of stuff that DeLay would put out. DeLay uses campaign funds to run ads against a prosecutor and we don't think he could buy a reporter, a newspaper, hell, a whole damn state. He already has - thousands of times over! Maybe just another attempt to poison the jury pool, ya think?

I do not know the history of this reporter or the newspaper but I look critically at everything that comes out with any type of support for DeLay. DeLay is corrupt, he is evil, he is a smarmy, lying bastard willing to do anything to retain his power and corruption - so let's just wait and see if Earle has the goods or not.

12. In Texas, they aren't required to supply their evidence with the indictmen
indictment. So how would they know? I think this is another one of DeLay's desperate attempts to get the charges dismissed.
