A lot of "error during processing" trying to get into the forums... rest of the site is fine. Is this Karl's retribution? (uneasy laugh)

7. No, I am too.
Plus, I just downloaded a new browser and I'm lost. It looks so different. How can something I've been using for 8 years be so alien to me now?

12. Run adaware, it is not DU, but some one doesn't like us. i got the
same hijack browser with cows and foul language as the last time (this time went to my mortgage co., to pay my bill). They are out in force, must be scared. That's all I can figure.

14. The only "stupid question"
is the one that remains un-asked.

I don't have an answer on "adaware," but my son should be here soon. He answers all my questions on these things. If no one else has answered this for us, he will.

(I had difficulty getting on in the early morning hours.)

15. Not stupid, we all have to ask:
Ad-Aware is a spyware detection and removal tool. After getting a virus about a year ago that required I take this unit to a workshop for repair, the technician suggested I go to www.MajorGeeks.com and install(freeware) in addition to a different anti-virus program that he felt was better than what I had. He strongly suggested I install Ad-Aware and Spybot-Search & Destroy. Did both and have not had a problem since. Both are easy to install and east to update and run. I am a novice so that was great for me. Both programs have tons of followers, this is not just some off the wall solution. MajorGeeks has you download from one of their many locations. Just pick one and go. Good luck.

16. www.lavasoft.com . The free one only checks when you run
Edited on Mon Oct-17-05 04:07 AM by I_Make_Mistakes
it after surfing, but that's good enough for me. Search for it on lavasoft's site, you can get a free version.

20. Go to C-Net.com downloads
You will see all the goodies there, including adaware. It's the number 1 download.

19. I got a nasty trojan from a popup here at DU about a week ago...
Nothing would get rid of it. I tried several options, but it slowed down my system to a crawl and finally I had to do a complete restore.

It wasn't DU...least I don't think it was.
