4. Certainly, if you think Sy Hersh is worth reading
the New Yorker belongs on the list.

2. "most popular" or "best"?
The 'most popular' question is easily settled by looking at circulation numbers.

As far as 'best'? I'm partial to The Progressive and In These Times.

5. Harper's.
Lewis Lapham detests Bush and everything he stands for--and isn't shy about saying so. Great magazine that's printed great pieces on everything from the Iraq debacle to '04 election fraud.

6. Harpers! Lewis Lapham is an editor
at Harpers. Harpers publishes long, thoughtful treatises on a wide variety of subjects well before the rest of the progressive media begins to think about them. They published an article on the 'coming pandemic' early this year - way, way before the phrase 'avian flu' burst onto the scene. Also - Harpers IS taking on the progressive and establishment media that will NOT discuss the possibility that election 2004 was stolen:

None Dare Call It Stolen. Ohio, the election, and America's servile press. by Mark Crispin Miller.

Because you did not have Harpers - I voted for Mother Jones! MoJo does great investigative reporting.

10. "The Nation" #1 with "MoJo" a very close #2.
I also like "Liberal Opinion," a compendium of op/ed pieces and political cartoons by the heavy hitters.
