Rawstory causing reboot, may be infected with virus
After being on Rawstory for a couple of minutes my computer reboots. I thought this was funny and that perhaps my anti-virus protection had something to do with it. So after reboot I went back to Rawstory. Bingo! After a couple of minutes my computer reboots again. Thinking that perhaps my computer is somehow at fault I decide to peruse DU. I have been on now for 15 minutes with no problem. My conclusion: Rawstory may be infected with some kind of virus or undergoing an attack of some sort.

3. Can't explain it.

Went on a third time, this time for about 5 minutes. No problem.

Don't know what caused the reboots but it seems to have stopped.

edited to change reboot to reboots.

7. I've been having a problem with Raw too....
Every time I go to the site, my computer freezes. All I get is a red screen and then the computer freezes up. I've been having the problem for over a week now, and I have ran every virus scan under the sun, but nothing seems to fix it. It is really a pain in the ass because Raw is one of my favorite sites. Everyday I try again to get on, and hope that it will work, but so far it just freezes my computer.

8. I'm guessing it's due to embedded Shockwave/Flash ads
Edited on Sat Oct-15-05 10:44 AM by TahitiNut
This would explain the Fabian nature of the problem, since the same ads might not be for everyone or on every access.

Embedded ads are getting more and more intrusive, often using considerable system resources. I'd guess that the only defense is to make sure your browser is up-to-date. Perhaps the latest plug-ins from Macromedia are needed.

10. no problems with me!
and that's surprising given how my stupid computer usually works!

If there were something infecting it, I'd get it!

Thanks for the heads up and I'll keep an eye out for it.
