Can the Dem's "Fix It", "Save It", and "Glue It Back Together"?
Edited on Sat Oct-15-05 11:14 AM by DemocracyInaction
Daily (and rightfully so) someone here will mention or wring their hands about "where are the Dem's". Right now we don't need position papers and emerging presidential candidates in order to "be there". We just need a "presence" (that's sort of like one of those idiot mission statements that schools and businesses, make their employees come up with---but in this case it needs to be a generalized message of 'grab onto the Dem life raft, citizens, we're going to try to keep this country from going down"). Anyway, as I was thinking on this today, I had the awful feeling that maybe we aren't seeing this 'presence' big and loud because the Dem's are looking at this utter, out of control mess these slimes have created in this country and are stunned at what it is they will ever really be able to do to salvage it!

For example: this national spending binge of this administration has to be paid off. We all know that. The day that one lowly Dem whispers "tax increase" (and you know eventually it's going to have to happen), is the day the public will still respond to these repuke bastards and murder the Dem messenger. That's just one example of many. The people may be hating and loathing what Bush and the Re pukes have done to this nation BUT, guaranteed, they are not going to respond to anyone that actually deals with the mess because they don't want to ever get the bill! I feel sorry for the next Dem president and Dem Congress. Perhaps that has something to do with them being so tentative and reserved (in other words, don't give the repukes a target so that the people's eyes are taken off of the repuke crimes).

1. That is part of it

but there is more. Those of us who watch the SPAN know where the Dems are... but for the most part they don't have access to the media. Right now I am listening to one of OUR congress critters on Air America, with Lamphert.. one of our Cali congress critters, talking about the energy bill. She cannot get on MSNBC or Meet the Press or any other MSM fora and repeat this message, they simply will not let her get there.

I know a lot of people claim this is an excuse, but it is not... it is a REAL problem, so even if you have a presence on the floor of the House and C-SPAN 3 you don't have it on the MSM.

By the way Eco Talk was the program

her message, call your senators and tell them no on that horrible energy bill that was rammed down the floor of the congress... you won't have her on This Week, no way no how.

So if that cannot happen and will not for the foreseeable future, there is no way they can start explaining our position to people. Now that is starting to get better, since we now have some outlets, but nothing like the right has. Hell if I could I would finance a media empire with books, radio, papers and tv, but don't have that kind of money

2. I dunno 'bout that. Bill got re-elected after increasing taxes
because the effects were good for the economy and people were living a good life.

His predecessor, Bush I, got fired for doing the same because the economy didn't turn around.

It's the economy, Stupid. Four words that won an election.
