I wanted to say thank you
to everyone who responded to my news thread about submitting my query for my fourth novel yesterday, and took the time to visit my website. I had just put in a new counter on the 7th, which reset my nearly 2000 hits to zero. Now, thanks to DU, I'm quickly approaching the 100 mark again. I really appreciate the support I've received here and wanted to let everyone know how much it means to me.

The way I see it, the more popular my books get, the louder my voice can get about the really important things.

In the meantime, as I said yesterday, I'm working on Book V of the series, which is going to have a very political edge to it. It's set on an alternate Earth in around 2020, after a couple of decades of Neo-Con rule, and a revolution against it. When I first started working on it, I posted a thread for ideas, some of which I've implemented into the storyline.

DU has been a wonderful resource for me in many ways and I want to restate my gratitude for all the help and support you've all given me.

Thanks again.

1. No problem.
Always willing to help out other liberal writers, especially other liberal sci-fi/fantasy writers!

2. There's just not enough of us around,
is there?

It's funny...I'm getting a reputation on my author's list as being the "controversial" one, and unabashedly so.

Somehow I don't have any problem with that label.

:D

3. Controversy is good.
Thinking is good. Very good.

:D :D :D

Me, I'm just a fourteen-year-old, but I'm going to be published someday myself. Goddamn it, I'm going to make these fuckos think for once in their sorry lives.

4. The standard advice holds true...
Never give up. That's what every successful person in whatever field says...If you keep reaching for it, you'll eventually get it. The only way to lose is to surrender.

7. I'm just rediscovering fantasy after abandoning it in the 70's
Seems that's all I read now. Glad you're writing it.

Nice website, btw.

11. Small list so far
Mary Doria Russell, although I don't think she is considered fantasy but maybe more science fiction.

Stephen King, whom I know personally, Rowling, and Ann Rice.

as I said, I am just getting back into fantasy stuff and I am just starting Phillip Pullman's trilogies. If you have any recommendations, please tell me. I have your stuff on my list to read.

14. Oh, not a problem...
In fact I include a little mini-review with every book or series I recommend. It includes fantasy, sci-fi, horror, suspense, and even an e-book category.

15. Do you ever do any public speaking about your books?
Or any other books? Seems like with your knowledge, you could get some good promo out by giving seminars or talks about sci-fi & fantasy books.

17. I've never had the opportunity
and, frankly, the notion scares the heck out of me. Despite having taken speech class in both high school and college, I've never gained any real level of comfort with it.

I did do a radio interview a couple of weeks ago...did okay, I suppose, though it did freak me out.

20. That's a good point
And if I ever manage to get past the irrational fear I have of being the center of attention, I'll definitely give it some serious consideration.

The whole premise of the series is unique and darkly imaginative.

9. I'm fond of Raven myself...
He's one of my favorite characters...but there are so many it's hard to judge exactly.

A movie contract would be awesome! It's not as though they don't need some fresh blood in Hollywood. I'd love to get a screenwriter interested, that's for sure.

Thanks for the high praise, btw.

18. I'm married, yeah...
You bad girl you...

I've been a Richard Bach fan for years...and actually read the books that at least partially inspired him...the "Seth" books by Jane Roberts. I loved Jonathan Livingston Seagull, but loved Illusions even more.

And, yeah, I've read the Tao of Pooh and loved that too.
