Get ready for another neo-con circle jerk
The purple fingers, the cheerleading and the claims of vindication that because an "election" is being held (where most people don't even know what they are voting on) therefore the whole war must have been justified. We went through all of this on January 30th, and just like after the capture of Saddam and the killing of his sons, we were promised that the corner was turned and the "insurgency" would die down. Over 500 American troops have been killed since the January 30th "election". But we're all just going to have to stomach a few more days of neo-con circle jerking before we can get back to reality again.

2. I want to hear what Iraqi women
think about the Constitution. If they are celebrating, I will too.

But I do wonder...

3. I guess it all depends on the results
If the majority vote "no" on this Constitution, then I doubt we'll hear much about the elections at all.

8. My favorite part is when they pretend they actually care about the people
"Oh, these poor people, they were so oppressed, and now look, they are voting!"

Meanwhile, these same pundits and conservative assholes spent all of 2003 shouting "Shock and Awe! Who cares! Kill them if they are in the way!"

Hypocrites.

If it weren't so sad, if there weren't so many needless deaths, this would all be hilarious.

Hell, it still is, sometimes.

12. Shock and Awe
DO YOU REMEMBER?

When they named with boastful pride
The planned Bombings , “Shock and Awe”?
They were not much off the mark with that
The last thing some people saw
Were severed arms and legs of children
Butchered mothers and old folk
Strewn in the rubble of the their city
Midst the thunder and the smoke.
Air filled with hideous screams
As the people gasped and choked
From their blood filled lungs and mouths
As the next bombardment broke
The planes…this mighty Armada
Whose Bombers came and came and came
Sent by a mighty nation to play out their hellish game.

9. this morning I heard on CNN.........
....they said this might be a boost for Bush but not enough. Considering all of the things that have affected the poll numbers, Katrina, corruption, etc........it just won't give them that much of a boost. No matter how much propoganda they try to spin!

11. The image of purple fingers ...
... coupled with the idea of a "circle jerk" among neo-cons is just a tad revolting. :puke:

14. I would welcome a neo-con circle jerk if this would advance peace
All the chickenhawk crowing and whining about vindication would be perfectly tolerable to me as well as a bump in Bush's poll numbers if I thought it would lead to the end of this insane war and the return of our troops. I remain very pessimistic, however, as to whether this Iraqi constitution will result in peace and stability among Sunnis and Shiites, or whether it will further divide and balkanize Iraq. I would welcome the opportunity to stop bashing Bush over Iraq (because the war would be over and our troops home) and instead focus criticism on this Administration over its terrible domestic policy.
