Bodies still arrive daily at morgue for Katrina victims
Too bad all the TV cameras are gone :(

snip>
But the operation continues to hobble under logistical problems, raising tension and blame among local, state and federal agencies playing various roles.
...
Last week, Minyard complained his examiners were forced to halt autopsy work because the Federal Emergency Management Agency's disaster mortuary team would shut down the morgue when it finished work for the day. Don Kelly, a spokesman for the Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team, scoffed at the accusation.
...
Two women protested outside the morgue Friday, complaining that authorities wouldn't tell them anything about their mother, Clementine Eleby. They said she died after being evacuated from east New Orleans to the convention center after the storm.

"We have been patient. Now it's time for answers," said Earline Eleby. "If they can't do the job, they should send for someone else."
...
Bodies arrive daily, often after families return home to find them.

I can't *imagine* having to picket to get my mother's body from a morgue.

1. Rose Siding, they will never find all the bodies.
Edited on Sat Oct-15-05 11:37 PM by Neil Lisst
There is no telling how many bodies were swept away and will never be found, people who are missing and no one will ever know where they went.

One of the darkest comics I have done in the Neil Lisst comic was 09-06-05 here

3. Bodies STILL being found? Rate it up
One or TWO bodies are still being found by their relatives as they return home??
The horror is how this is being mentioned almost as a side note...

Are these families getting any counseling after something so traumatic?
