FNC Covers "Racial War" In Toledo While CNN & MSNBC Air Reruns/Wait For Fa
http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/

Some residents of Toledo, Ohio looted a tavern and tossed rocks at cops, and it was carried live and continuously on Fox News Channel for over an hour.

MSNBC and CNN primarily stayed with tape. CNN did offer a brief "breaking news" update at 3:30pm, and notice Fredricka Whitfield's tone: "When we get more information about the kind of alleged violence that has taken place, the fire, the alleged looting...we'll be bringing that to you throughout the day here on CNN."

Alleged. Her words were thoughtful and measured. By contrast, FNC's Julie Banderas referred to the situation as a "racial war." Banderas said Toledo had historically been a "tinderbox" for racial tension. FOXNews.com called the people "rioters." It was treated as an Alert for almost all of the 3pm hour, even though details were few and far between. It would be easy to question FNC's news judgment; critics could suggest that broadcasting the images was unethical and dangerous. But you know what? I was on the way out at 3:15, but when I turned on the TV, I was glued to Fox until 3:45...

This report of from MediaBistro. Looks like Faux has some more juicy video to feed their Freeper audience.

1. I do think it's dangerous
FOX is being divisive in it's coverage.

2. Unless there is some missing tape
it didn't seem to be on the level of "racial war".

3. Yeah, they were talking as if it was a repeat of Watts. There have been
far worse instances of civil disorder after championship football or basketball games that I can recall.

4. Did you notice Fox called them protestors instead of residents?
The Nazis were marching through a black section of town. The people who live there were the ones who went berserk. Like Iraq, Fox News uses the language that fits their spin. People who live there are terrorists, and people who invade and occupy them are not.

In Toledo, the "protestors" were citizens living there.

Only Fox News will take up for Nazis to take a shot at blacks, whom they all presume are Democrats.

as these Nazi's walked through their neighborhood.

And why didn't they have a permit for someplace else?

Looks like they were asking for trouble and testing the waters.

Hope they don't come to LA, the Crips and the Bloods will be waiting on the corners to welcome them.

6. Permit
They got around a permit by only walking down the side walks instead of doing a parade in the streets. I'm all for freedom of speech but sometimes you have to do what's best. I've seen people arrested in neighborhoods for less. They were asking for trouble when they decided to march in the neighborhood. The sad part is that now they can say "see we told you so, look at the violent black people". The city should have done more.

We had a Klan rally in Indianapolis some years back that ended in rock throwing and several Klansmen were beat up but it didn't end in a riot. The fact that it was away from any residential area helped.
