Soldier faces new charges

Twinsburg officer is accused in old case, as well as second death

New charges, including the refiling of a murder charge that was dismissed earlier this year, and an additional murder charge, have been filed against a Twinsburg Army officer, the man's uncle said Friday.

Army 2nd Lt. Erick Anderson was notified this month by military prosecutors that he has been charged with two counts of murder as well as other charges involving his service in Iraq, said his uncle Peter Lorenz, an attorney from Kent.

Earlier this year, the Army dismissed charges against Anderson but said it was continuing to investigate the officer's conduct in the death of an Iraqi teen.

A news conference is scheduled for Monday at Cleveland Public Square with Lorenz and other family members and U.S. Rep. Steven C. LaTourette, R-Concord Township, and U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, D-Niles, to discuss the case.
