The sub-text of Freeh's new anti-Clinton tome; IRAN |
|
Edited on Sun Oct-16-05 10:45 AM by Atman
I've seen him talking to a few of the usual suspects, the most recent being his book-promoting appearance with Tim Russert on MTP. While his serves multiple purposes; covering his own ass, giving the right something which might re-energize their sagging morale (the old "Clinton did it!" chestnut), I think there is another message the right-wing propaganda machine is trying to get out there.
Freeh mentions several times how Bill Clinton failed to go after the Iranians in retaliation for the Kobar Towers bombing. "The Iranians did this." He repeats several times how it was the IRANIANS "who killed 19 of our soldiers" and "we did nothing."
The IRANIANS.
The right is using Freeh to help whip up the hatred, to make sure the Iranians can be viewed as, if not an outright enemy which might attack us, surely one deserving of our wrath for the un-avenged deaths of 19 U.S. soldiers.
It isn't the entire rationale, to be sure. But in concert with Condi's tour warning of the evil Syrians, it seems pretty clear to me that this is just further propaganda to help further germinate the seeds of hatred among those not yet convinced, and to prepare the war-weary for the next wave of BushCo's imperialist march across the Middle East.

7. I think it's more than poll numbers they're looking for. |
|
Iran, then Syria. It's the PNAC plan and they won't let go until we pry their dead cold hands off the reigns of power.

8. The WH has a lot of gall, doesn't it? |
|
While 59% (probably higher) of the American people think this country is on the wrong track, the WHIGs think another war will force people to rally to their side. Their distorted thinking makes Nixon's look rational.
I read last night that there are troops near the Iranian border trying to provoke an attack from Iran.
If ever a president needed impeachment, it's this one. For our national security, not a blue dress.

He seems to be making it up as he goes. Let's ever mind the fact that he's donated $18,000 to the Repubs since 2003.

What I found so striking on MTP was that Freeh admitted he spent 7 years of his teure investigating the President. It seems ironic that the relative LACK of investigation in the current administration has the potential of producing so much more in terms of indictments. Freeh's actions during the Clinton years provides even more evidence that certain groups were out to get him from the get-go. How do we know there will not be another 'hunting of the president' should another dem again take power?
