Maddening thing about Roveco: if they put 1/10 the energy into GOVERNING |
|
that they did into dirty tricks, PR, and spin, we probably wouldn't be in as dire straits as a country as we are.

1. I agree. But then they would not get as rich |
|
and powerful if they played by the rules.
Keep your eye on the ball - they do not just want to be in control of the President and Congress. That is just the first step so they can get what they really want.
It reminds me of a kid who puts more effort into getting out of chores than it would take to just do them.

3. Governance as leadership or power mongering? |
|
Leadership is a very different thing from "control." True, both involve power, but a leader can encourage people to join with them in an effort by their presence. THey move people to action out of love, respect, encouragment. A meglomainical control freak motivates people through fear and ruthlessness. Such a person may rule, but never lead.
I long for a true leader to emerge but I'm unconvinced of the possiblity of leading anything as large, money driven, and multi-layered as the American gov't.

feed the bottomless pitt which is their ego. They don't go into government as a calling or way to serve something greater than themselves (the public).
People like that will always make a mess. It is up to us - the public - to fetter out the nefarious types. The will force chages on the system so that it services them.

6. Certain occupations attract the very types of people that |
|
shouldn't be in those occupations. Politics, management & law enforcement come to mind.
That's not to say that everyone who goes into those occupations will abuse their positions, however these occupations do tend to attract the types of personalities that will.

7. Oh - from my reading it seems that the worst of the worst are attracted |
|
the "helping professions" because they can find alot of sweet & heartfilled souls who they can control or intimidate.
Bad apples are everywhere. But you would think there would be some limit to what type of character was allowed into the WH.
