OOoo OOoo OOoo I think I figured something out: Plamegate
Theory Only - No factual basis known - Just reading 'tween the lines

Did I read somewhere that Valerie Plame/Wilson's job was to purchase weapons? IF this is so, then this whole thing (possibly) is not about the Wilson's discovering there were NO WMD's. It is about an attempt to purchase the WMD's to be planted into Iraq. The plan was set, with Judy Miller to be there to report the find - but the Wilson's (probably) threatened to talk - in retaliation Valerie was outed.

Damn, this all makes sense now! Never could figure out why the outing due to no find of Iraq having purchased WMD's.

Your thoughts?

1. Other threads, especially those of Peace Patriot have explored
this in detail.

Highly recommended that you check them out (use your search function).

3. There is no basis I am aware of for that charge
Plame's gig was tracking the sale of WMD to any person, nation or group that shouldn't have them. She was, in essence, doing the job Bush & Co. claimed to be doing with the Iraq invasion. The irony is profound.

4. Then maybe they were tracked by Plame to have been purchased
by the US of Halliburton to be placed into Iraq then?

If any links to WMD were to be found they'd logically be traced back to ...the White House. Can't very well tell on yourself, now, can you ?

The materiel to build WMDs were coming to Iraq from some of the US's biggest name corporations. And the US Ex-Im Bank and loan guarantee programs (backed by the US taxpayer) were funding this via USDA and the Banco Nationale de Lavoro in Atlanta GA. Small fry went to jail. Big fish didn't fry at all.

6. No. Her CIA outfit was finding the real covert WMDs all over the world
No. Her CIA outfit was finding the real covert WMDs all over the world. Outing Plame broke up the whole operation. It compromised and endangered not just Plame but a number of fellow agents and their contacts. Years of work down the drain.

Any "planting" operation was separate and probably not run through the CIA. I'm not convinced of any attempts to plant WMDs, though it would not surprise me. I think the fact that they did not or could not plant WMDs in Iraq is heavy evidence against House Of Pancakes theories in general.

The CIA is furious that the Bush regime would sell them down the river for political gamesmanship to cover Bush's sorry ass about his Iraq vendetta.

National security has been endangered. The Bush henchmen and women are treasonous.

going in to plant WMD earky on but they couldn't complete the mission (don't remember details) so the planting plsn fell through. Bet somebody around here has a better memory on this.

12. It's been widely speculated that one of the main reasons
Cheney and Bush wanted UN inspectors out of Iraq so quickly was so that they could plant WMDs without being detected.

9. No - the tradgedy here is that she & the business she worked for
had other agents and contacts making "friends" with all sorts of people abroad. Some of them would be spies - some of them would just be people who were used by the agent (Plame for example) as cover.

All these people are now under suspicion in their own countries. All of them. Even the ones who really thought they were just making friends with some American business people - and had nothing to do with spying.

Nobody talks about the fall-out from that. And if lives were lost or if lives will be lost because the whole operation had to be shut down.

There is a possibility that Wilson knew much of what the CIA knew (because he worked for them on WMD issues & his wife did) so he was one of the only people places (along with knowing niger yellowcake was phoney) to understand how much of a lie "going to war on WMD" was.

Many of us hated Saddam and wanted to see flowers for those Iraqi people. We believed that WMD was one possibility. We also believed the the neocons actually had inside information that was bad. Wilson may have been one of the only functionaries in place to know both strands of the story (WMD & niger yellowcake). So he was driven to tell the truth - because he could see it more clearly than everyone else. That it was all a facade - with neocons. That they didn't believe in the truth. They set their goals and worked back from there.

And so we ended up with an occupation that was a facade (cause everything the neocons do is a facade) and thus a civil war and civilians put into very dangerous situation & the soldiers too.

Brewster Jennings was supposedly investigating ARAMCO

http://www.therandirhodesshow.com/live/node/211

snip

ARAMCO

According to an April 29, 2002 report in Britain's Guardian, ARAMCO constitutes 12% of the world's total oil production; a figure which has certainly increased as other countries have progressed deeper into irreversible decline.

ARAMCO is the largest oil group in the world, a state-owned Saudi company in partnership with four major US oil companies. Another one of Aramco's partners is Chevron-Texaco which gave up one of its board members, Condoleezza Rice, when she became the National Security Advisor to George Bush. All of ARAMCO's key decisions are made by the Saudi royal family while US oil expertise, personnel and technology keeps the cash coming in and the oil going out. ARAMCO operates, manages, and maintains virtually all Saudi oil fields - 25% of all the oil on the planet.

It gets better.

According to a New York Times report on March 8th of this year, ARAMCO is planning to make a 25% investment in a new and badly needed refinery to produce gasoline. The remaining 75% ownership of the refinery will go to the only nation that is quickly becoming America's major world competitor for ever-diminishing supplies of oil: China.

Almost the entire Bush administration has an interest in ARAMCO.

The Boston Globe reported that in 2001 ARAMCO had signed a $140 million multi-year contract with Halliburton, then chaired by Dick Cheney, to develop a new oil field. Halliburton does a lot of business in Saudi Arabia. Current estimates of Halliburton contracts or joint ventures in the country run into the tens of billions of dollars.

So do the fortunes of some shady figures from the Bush family's past.

As recently as 1991 ARAMCO had Khalid bin Mahfouz sitting on its Supreme Council or board of directors. Mahfouz, Saudi Arabia's former treasurer and the nation's largest banker, has been reported in several places to be Osama bin Laden's brother in law. However, he has denied this and brought intense legal pressure to bear demanding retractions of these allegations. He has major partnership investments with the multi-billion dollar Binladin Group of companies and he is a former director of BCCI, the infamous criminal drug-money laundering bank which performed a number of very useful services for the CIA before its 1991 collapse under criminal investigation by a whole lot of countries.

As Saudi Arabia's largest banker he handles the accounts of the royal family and - no doubt - ARAMCO, while at the same time he is a named defendant in a $1 trillion lawsuit filed by 9/11 victim families against the Saudi government and prominent Saudi officials who, the suit alleges, were complicit in the 9/11 attacks.

Both BCCI and Mahfouz have historical connections to the Bush family dating back to the 1980s. Another bank (one of many) connected to Mahfouz - the InterMaritime Bank - bailed out a cash-starved Harken Energy in 1987 with $25 million. After the rejuvenated Harken got a no-bid oil lease in 1991, CEO George W. Bush promptly sold his shares in a pump-and-dump scheme and made a whole lot of money.

She probably was working on a case very close to those WMD's they tried trafficing into IRAQ. Just my theory of course. I don't believe in coincidences.

The ironies of this drama continue to proliferate. Here’s one: Nixon’s homegrown spy coven was called “The Plumbers,” because its primary responsibility was to stop leaks. But Dubya finds himself spending an hour and ten minutes in the hot seat (next to his personal lawyer) because his people created a leak – the felonious kind.

Dick Cheney is the President of the Senate, on whose hallowed floor he has just told Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) to “fuck off.” This regime is losing control of itself. The supra-governmental long-term plans that illegally drove them into office gave them a false sense of invulnerability. The money powers that make American presidencies had anointed Cheney and crew to run the country, so they could break as many rules, careers, laws, and heads as they chose – so long as they delivered the right number of barrels-per-day at the right price. They can’t. Having profligately wasted their political capital on torture, budgetary pork, and tax cuts, they have almost nothing left now that they’ve failed their sponsors.
