3. I believe it's Powell and he has been helping from day one.
I really believe Powell is at the center of this and he wants to "right a wrong."

to keep his family in a 'good' position. He'd be less bitter.

I actually liked him at one time and I was pissed when he LIED.

174. But Powell isn't a "senior White House official"
For one thing, he resigned. Besides, he was a State Department official. Not the White House.

If it's a White House official, your suspects are Scooter, KKKarl, Andy Card, Scotty the Duck, etc. Out of that list, Scooter's probably the most expendable, and Scotty's probably tired of fielding questions. I'd be very shocked to see Card, and certainly KKKarl turning against the Chimp.

192. But maybe the flipper is NOT turning against the Chimp?????
Maybe the Flipper is ROVE, who returned to the GJ for a 4th time, and he is gonna pin the WHOLE mess on a rogue bunch of evildoers ON CHENEY's crew. Thus, Cheney goes down, Scooter goes down, Matalin goes down, but Bush's minions claim, in unison, that they were DUPED. That evil CHENEY bunch--they DECEIVED us!!!!

Remember that mountain climber who was pinned under a rock, and cut his own ARM off, without any anaesthetic, to survive?

It could be Mountain Climbing time at the White House, is all I am saying....

for them. Here's the bad movie version: Karl, smart little nerd that he is, hitches his wagon to the rich jock star to work his evil magic through a "pretty" face, but when his handiwork begins to unravel he jumps ship and lets Jock King and his evil cronies twist in the wind as he slinks into obscurity--or a consulting job, whichever comes first.

He's in deep doo-doo. He just tried to coach or intimidate Miller as a witness. He probably just figured out that the jig is up and so he's going to sing. (I used to watch a lot of old movies.)
Also there was a photo earlier today that showed Cheney and Rice looking quite bad. They were staring down at their shoes and not even able to put on a phony smile for the camera.

121. The New Deep Throat.
Yours is a good guess, YEM. The thing against it is Powell may not be in the prosecutorial cross-hairs. For someone to be "turned" requires a slam-dunk guilty verdict. Powell probably is cooperating because he doesn't want to be labeled by history as one of the BFEE turdballs. Those who the turned target have named, I hope, are sweating real bullets. They know the punishment for treason during wartime.

although I think he'd be more afraid of the blowback from the blackhearted thugs he hangs out with to rat them out.

Cheney aide cooperating with CIA outing probe, sources say
Larisa Alexandrovna and Jason Leopold
Oct. 18, 2005 / rawstory.com

A senior aide to Vice President Dick Cheney is cooperating with special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald in the outing of CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson, sources close to the investigation say.

Individuals familiar with Fitzgerald’s case tell RAW STORY that John Hannah, a senior national security aide on loan to Vice President Dick Cheney from the offices of then-Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Affairs, John Bolton, was named as a target of Fitzgerald’s probe. They say he was told in recent weeks that he could face imminent indictment for his role in leaking Plame-Wilson’s name to reporters unless he cooperated with the investigation.

194. Here is the original cited source, up on the web now
http://nydailynews.com/front/story/356858p-304125c.html

At least one source and one reporter who have testified in the probe said U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald is pursuing Cheney's role in the Valerie Plame affair.

In addition, at least six current and former Cheney staffers - most members of the White House Iraq Group - have testified before the grand jury, including the vice president's top honcho, Lewis (Scooter) Libby, and two top Cheney national security lieutenants.

Cheney's name has come up amid indications Fitzgerald may be edging closer to a blockbuster conspiracy charge - with help from a secret snitch.

"They have got a senior cooperating witness - someone who is giving them all of that," a source who has been questioned in the leak probe told the Daily News yesterday.

O-kay.

I'll find this interesting when two things happen:

1) It's reported somewhere other than the New York Daily News.

2) The story is something more than "sources believe." Lots of sources believe lots of things, such as the sources that believed Fitzgerald was announcing indictments, what was it, two weeks ago.

189. I Was Planning to Post Card, Too
Many of the suggestions posted here are either not in the White House (Powell) or appear to be loyal Gordon-Liddy types (Meirs, Libby, Rove, etc) who would prefer prison to turning state's evidence.

One thing that recommends Andy Card is that he has reportedly had a major feud with Karl Rove, and would probably feel burned if he were caught in the prosecutorial net. He never seemed to fit into the rest of the neocon group anyway.

70. Weirdly enuf, before i popped over to DU tonight...
...I had googled something else.
I wondered if Fitzgerald and Judge Lefkow - the Chicago judge whose husband and mother were murdered earlier this year - had any linkage.

Like, the first thing I looked at was (albeit from what lookewd to be a Commie Fluoride Plot site) this:

http://tomflocco.com/fs/CiaFrenchIntell.htm

CIA, French intelligence kill 4, capture 5 Israelis in NY subway attack
Date: Thursday, October 6
Topic: -

U.S. media and NY officials called the incident a "significant, specific threat"

by Tom Flocco

New York City -- October 6, 2005 -- TomFlocco.com -- Earlier this evening intelligence members of the American-French Alliance stopped an attempt by Israeli Mossad operatives to blow up the New York City subway, according to national security and U.S. intelligence expert Thomas Heneghan.

The federal whistleblower said four Israelis were killed in the altercation and five more were captured just minutes after virtually all U.S. cable news channels, network TV outlets and New York Mayor Richard Bloomberg were reporting their own version of the incident, saying that New York City was "facing a significant, specific threat" in the city's subway.

Heneghan said CNN had the information but host Anderson Cooper did not report the real story to the American people.

Adding to the Bush administration's problems and following on the heels of the August 2, 2005 Bush-Cheney indictment story on TomFlocco.com, cable news channels are now reporting that indictments against White House officials are imminent.

Heneghan said his intelligence sources revealed that White House Senior Presidential Advisor Karl Rove has turned State's evidence and "will implicate other members of the White House" in order to cooperate with U.S. Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald.

The intelligence authority said "22 indictments involving both the Bush and Clinton administrations are pending in a grand jury," adding "more indictments will come quickly and in waves."

I'm just sayin'.

It wouldn't necessarily have to be one of the Big Names, would it? In my experience working in offices, secretaries are often viewed as just an other piece of office equipment so people speak quite freely in front of them. Therefore they often know more about what's going in the whole building than their bosses do.

103. Here's an article that indicates Powell was helpful, but it's not the one
I read just recently:

Although the U.S. Attorney’s office in Chicago is staying silent, it is well known that Fitzgerald is digging deep into an assortment of serious improprieties among many Bush administration figures based, in part, on subpoenaed testimony provided by former Secretary of State Colin Powell.

According to federal whistleblower Tom Heneghen, who recently reported on www.truthradio.com, Powell testified before the citizen grand jury that President Bush had taken the U.S. to war illegally based on lies, which is a capital crime involving treason under the U.S. Code.

“Regarding the Powell testimony, there is no comment,” said Sanborn.

99. I think it's Tenet
He has refused to give interviews for a long time, maybe on the advice of his attornys.

In the documentary, 'Dead Wrong' you got the impression that he got caught up in the neocon madness and ruined an otherwise great career, and I get the feeling, he felt he let his colleagues down.

What better way to make up for what he did, (going along with, if not outright telling, the lies) than to tell what he knows. I remember him crying when he resigned.

I think he loves his country, and has a conscience, and may have decided that the right thing to do now is to stop these traitors from doing any more harm to this country.

Colin Powell and Armitage may also have talked, at least in a limited way. Colin Powell has said about his role in the lies that 'I will have to live with that'. I think it was his aide, (could be wrong about this) who said 'I wish I had never gotten involved with this, (the war in Iraq).

You just know that an efficient prosecution with powers could unwind this thing until it reaches the center. So when you know it goes all the way to the top can you just stop on the edge? Fitz seems like the kinda guy who takes things to their conclusion.

To me its not like everything started right from Roves office without smirk knowing and participating by OKing the tactic or ignoring it which means he allowed it and just turned his head.

Im thinking this gets to the core. At least Im hoping that if Smirk is involved he gets his also.

She looked very uncomfortable on Meet the Press Sunday & refused to say anything beyond the fact that she "cooperated". And she also basically admitted the Bush administration decided to attack Iraq right after 9/11 - that's the first time she's sounded so honest. Had she already decided to flip? She was involved in the White House Iraq Group & probably in a perfect position to hear any discussions by Cheney's crew about Wilson. And, well, she always seemed slightly less fanatical than the rest of them.

142. Some details have finally been posted by The Raw Story...
Edited on Mon Oct-17-05 09:36 PM by RSchewe
The case of outed CIA agent Valerie Plame is set to explode.

The New York Daily News is set to report in Tuesday editions that a well-placed source interviewed by the newspaper believes a senior White House official has flipped and may be helping the prosecutor in the case, RAW STORY has learned.

The Daily News will reveal that a top source believes that based on the questioning of Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald and his other contacts with the investigation, someone in the White House has turned.

All eyes are on Dick Cheney, the News says, as the investigation wraps up.

The piece follows on the heels of on a story by Bloomberg News and an article by RAW STORY last week confirming that the prosecutor is probing the Vice President.

Also under a microscope is the White House Iraq Group, an ad-hoc strategy group started by Bush chief of staff Andrew Card aimed at selling the war in Iraq.

Two officials close to Fitzgerald told RAW STORY they have seen documents obtained from the White House Iraq Group which state that Cheney was present at several of the group's meetings. They say Cheney personally discussed with individuals in attendance at least two interviews in May and June of 2003 Wilson gave to New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof and Washington Post reporter Walter Pincus, in which he claimed the administration “twisted” prewar intelligence and what the response from the administration should be.

Think about Rove. He's the ultimate narcissist -- though many think he's "loyal" to Bush or to the administration, I think he's more liable to be exclusively loyal to himself. He's got many years left in him, and if he senses blood in the water, he's going to find a way out before the sharks converge. Of all of these people, he's the one who would make it a priority that - above all - he comes out of this unscathed.

But, then it could be Libby. Who knows?

I caught a few minutes of it and he was extremely relaxed and clearly in a good mood. I think that he is enjoying watching the Monkey House twisting in the wind. They made him look like a fool and I don't doubt that he would relish the opportunity to get a measure of revenge.

I'm not saying that he was the flipper, but I think Powell has probably told Fitz the truth about everything he knows, much to the dismay of the WH. Fitz has either Rove or Libby by the short hairs (i.e., looking at MAJOR prison time) and one ratted the other out.

193. My bet would be Ari as part of a WH plan to distance
Bush from the VP and WHIG and wipe the stench off of Bush.

Ari would do this for his Pres and his departure from the WH press room puts Ari in a better position to setup Cheney - as in fight back against the neocons. And, as much as I hate him, Cheney is required to fall on his sword for the office of the Pres - no matter how much Cheney thinks he is the Pres he does not wear the crown or carry the scepter.

At the end of they day, we will never be allowed to know how much Bush was involved and the level of shenanigans in the WH because everyone (CIA, FBI, Congress, Joe Biden, Joe Liberman, Hillary etc.) will want to protect the office. All of those idiots think we can't handle the truth.

198. No, the source is within the WHITE HOUSE
I think it could be Rove, ratting out the Cheney team, and claiming that they were all duped; that Cheney and pals subverted his office. It could also be Mary Matalin, not wanting to do time in the can, and feeling exposure for her role which was so close to Cheney, but she is less likely--more of a corroborater than a collaborator at this point, since she is no longer IN the WH.

I think CHENEY was Judy's second source, perhaps over the phone. Plame can sound like FLAME over a phone line, without seeing those evil thin lips do a little "P" puff....

201. HEADS UP! Raw Story names JOHN "FLIPPER" HANNAH
This is just too sweet!
