I am hopeful that Plamegate will become a big enough distraction that even though it may not lead to impeachment in 05, it will slow then wheels down to the point Sandra Day O'Connor will remain until the 06 elections when the dems regain control of at least the Senate and can stall the wackos from being nominated and confirmed.

1. SDC has a husband who is seriously ill and has dementia
She could just "vacate" the seat and let the court meet with eight members until 1/2007, that would be fine with me. Hell, it's possible that Cheney and Bush are going to have to resign. Won't that be fun?

3. The 'what's next might be worse" game is lame.
The DP ought to vote each candidate on his or her qualifications and not be concerned that 'the next one might be even worse'. This is a classic game-losing strategy that ends up always accepting the turd in hand, not matter how stinky and foul, out of fear that the next turd from the bush will be worse.

If it smells like shit, looks like shit, and tastes like shit: it is shit.

4. Well, there's plenty of shit around, for sure.
And if nobody is confirmed prior to 06 so much the better because if another justice is seated under this regime we'll only be deeper in shit.
