Help -- I'm Looking for the Best Non-partisan Sites...
...and publications.

I'm dealing with Freepers who don't believe fact if it comes from the "liberal media" (if they only knew how compromised the mainstream press is).

1. since you are dealing with freepers, NOTHING you suggest would be
considered in the least bit unbiased.

2. For freepers, "liberal media"= anyone who disagrees with them
I don't think you are going to find what you are looking for.

3. don't waste your time. the media is not liberal. it's all a lie. but...
go to mediamatters.org if they can't face the facts that the media is a bunch of right wing liars, they are hopeless. Media Matters is pretty straightforward. a lie is a lie.

4. factcheck.org claims to be non-partisan
Based in Penn's school of Public Policy, I've found them to be quite good in cutting through the BS on both sides. Of course, freepers will dismiss it as a product of liberal academia.

5. Good question
I've dealt with Freepers quite a bit myself, and I have never found a source to backup my arguments that they didn't accuse of liberal bias. Like you said, they even consider the mainstream media to be liberal. In my experience, anything they disagree with, they label "liberal." Your best bet might be to try to find an established conservative writer or publication that backs up what you're saying. If that's even possible. I really believe the Freepers are irrational people, and as long as they disagree with you, there's nothing you can say to get through to them. If you find something though, let me know, I'd love to prove wrong the Freepers that I know.

6. Don't bother dealing with freepers! It's like trying to
teach a pig to sing: You'll only waste your time and annoy the pig.
(Mark Twain paraphrased)

7. The Economist and the Christian Science Monitor
have been two I've looked to. Plus, NPR. I'm sure the Freeptards you run across will roll their eyes at NPR but their newscasts are rather factual. Their commentary shows, however, may lean a bit to the left but they have oftentimes run a streak of conservatism.

8. Can't go wrong w/ Christian Science Monitor
how can they argue w/ something that's been around for decades that starts with "Christian?"

But as the above posters have warned, beware. To quote good authority:

"Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast
ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under
their feet, and turn again and rend you." Matthew 7:6 kjv
