The ones I remembered the most, and which would have been included on my own list (I'm a MagJunkie):

Clinton on Esquire

National Geographic with the Afghani girl

Time Magazine, 9/11

The New Yorker illustration of NYC, and everything else...

Dixie Chicks with political body pain on Entertainment Weekly

Linda Evangelista on Harper's Bazaar

Rolling Stone with John and Yoko, shortly after his death

2. You can't really tell how cool that New Yorker cover was on 9-24-01

They used two different black inks that just barely made a silhouette of the twin towers.

Made me cry all over again when it came in the mail.

I remember that National Geographic cover (#10) stopping me in my tracks, as well.

Great collection of covers, indeed. Thanks!

on my list. It was a beautiful cover for an article on revival of realism in contemporary art. It caused a lot of controversy for no particularly good reason.

This is not that cover, but it is a Bailey painting to give you an idea:

I still have my original copies of the top two covers on the list.
