1. Someone needs to tell him that defense spending |
|
Edited on Tue Oct-18-05 07:05 AM by Skidmore
for an illegal war is the biggest part of the monies available to cut.
AND point out that the number of impoverished people are growing, not decreasing so there is a reason for those programs to be increased.

|
Edited on Tue Oct-18-05 07:07 AM by CottonBear
Army Corps of Engineer head of MS/NOLA area levees was fired in, I believe, 2002 when he protested the massive Army Corps of Engineers budget cuts because of the danger posed to NOLA by lack of work on levees.
Rep. refused to acknowledge that Clinton funded FEMA and ACE.
Rep. wants to balance the budget by Delay's "Operation Offset."

This man is insane. He doesn't believe in the "entitlement society." He mentions no military budget cuts.
He used to be a radio talk show host. Now he's complaining about medical ads on TV and that it offends him and his children. Well then. turn off the goddamn TV you idiot.

Rep. Pence is absolutely disgusting, these proposals only affect the poor and sick. I didn't think I could be more outraged with these criminals in government. Contact: http://www.house.gov/hastert/contact.shtmlhttp://www.house.gov/formpence/IMA/contact.htm

|
the 6% increase in the level of funding for programs for the poor and sick and said that he never got no 6% increase in wages. Pence, of course, didn't bat an eye or offer any indication that this may be due to an increase in the number of people qualifying for benefits.

9. Maybe That Idiot Didn't DESERVE A 6% Wage Increase |
|
If he's that stupid, it wouldn't surprise me that he has no discernable and special talent that would justify a raise that's 3% above the national average. In fact, i'd bet money on it, and i'm not a gambler. My guess is that the caller is just another selfish know-nothing who thinks he silly little facts out of context makes him sound smart. He'd be wrong.
What a jerk. The Professor

10. A few statistics this POS ignores. |
|
The infant mortality rate in the US is now the same as in Malaysia.
A baby boy from one of the top 5 per cent richest families in America will live 25 per cent longer than a boy born in the bottom 5 per cent and the infant mortality rate in the US is the same as Malaysia, which has a quarter of America's income.
Blacks in Washington DC have a higher infant death rate than people in the Indian state of Kerala.
Throughout the US black children are twice as likely to die before their first birthday. More than a third of the uninsured say that they went without medical care last year because of cost
Uninsured Americans are less likely to have regular outpatient care, so they are more likely to be admitted to hospital for avoidable health problems. More than 40 per cent of the uninsured do not have a regular place to receive medical treatment. More than a third say that they or someone in their family went without needed medical care, including prescription drugs, in the past year because they lacked the money to pay.
Child poverty rates in the United States are now more than 20 per cent.

services are going to do. I'll be they try to repeal child labor laws before this is over, and the only reason you don't show up for some Mickey Ds or Wallyworld job somewhere is that you are attending you own funeral.

22. These people have no shame. |
|
We are spending a fortune on "national defense" in this country with no accountability whatsoever . Halliburton continues to rake in the money on these no-bid contracts in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Gulf Coast region. They are destroying our social programs by giving money to these so-called "faith-based" groups. I feel like banging my head against the wall.
They are systematically dismantling every safeguard we've put in place over the years - even Nixon would be ashamed of these criminals.

To use the tragedy of Katrina to effect their personal vendetta against the poor. I just want to know how this is possible. There were a couple of good callers, but not nearly enough to put that evil piece of slime in his place. My heart is just sick.

I could have just slapped that smug look off of Mike Pence's face, but the fact that he's out there unashamed and uncontested to throw poor people under the bus just pisses me off to no end. Where is the representation for the poor and the middle class-- we are dying out here!!!!!

14. Pence is unbelievably disgusting. |
|
He was so horrible, I was actually shocked by his heartless double-speak. Pence played the most disingenuous of word games.
He described "Operation Offset" share sacrifice 'across the government.' Notice what this does; this language turns 'programs' into 'government.' So, it's not going to be the people who need 'programs,' like food-stamps, who will be the ones 'sacrificing,' instead, it's the non-entity of 'government' that will be 'sacrificing.' What a clever way to phrase Social Darwinism.
Pence was equally fork-tongued on every issue he addressed. Pence was the poster boy for "conservative" hatred of the less-than wealthy citizens.

20. I think they mean they want a Christian State |
|
and they don't think there's anything wrong with that. There's something wrong with US for not wanting it.
I got this phrase from a DU thread yesterday--a Christian group put out their manifestos, and that was one of the points.

I had the time to call in - although I never get through. A couple of good Dem callers though. I wanted to tell this man that I am sick and tired of Repubs like him assuming that the rest of America is as stupid as his base - does he think us all fools??? He was as phoney as they come, and that's saying alot.
