The question of "winning" in Iraq....
I have been thinking about this for a while. Obviously that concept of "winning" is completely absurd.

But if any clod out there still believes this fantastic notion, think about this: Given the amount of ordinance that has been dropped on the country, given the amount of general infrastructure that has been damaged, given the amount of innocent lives that have been killed, honestly, how could we "win" this quagmire if it's going to take decades if not centuries to get Iraq, let alone Baghdad, back to a functioning prosperous country again?

We have decimated whole cities, destroyed the water, electrical and oil system.

If it's going to take in the range of 200 billion to get New Orleans back on the map and functioning again, how in gods are we supposed to unfuck our fuck up in Iraq?

My next question to all those repuke lurkers out there, define "win" for me, will you? Because I'm at a loss to define it as per morons* logic.

1. This is the question
I mean my definition going in was that in 10 years (after the invasion) we look back and say "Well Iraq is better than it was before we invaded." Unfortunately the invasion was completely bungled by people who were unwilling to even think about what woudl happen after.

5. Using the Queen's English?
;)

I think a win is no longer in the hands of the US anymore. I defined a win once as the establishment of more-of-less secular government that adheres to the rule of law, a government led by a democratically minded strongman, with respect for different ethnic and religious groups (but not balkanized into these factions), with a growing middle class. The Iraqi people putting this nightmare of the last 30 years behind them, the isolation of the insurgents, and a people beholden to neither the religious fanatics of Iran, nor its corrupt, anti-democratic Arab League neighbors.

Iraq as it was before the dark times of the last 30 years when it was a leader of the Arab World: culturally, economically, politically. Iraq as something none of its neighbors are: a country whose people rule, not the dictators - of peace, order and good government.

Its up to these people now:

3. Iraq will be "won" when it is a perfectly homogeneous
Zionist state.
