Impliations of RvWade getting overturned
Most anti abortion types will tell you "I only support abortion in cases of rape, incest and if the mother's life is in danger."

Well sure enough, let's just say abortion is banned except for those cases...If a guy gets a girl pregnant, there is a good chance she might claim she was raped, so that she can have an abortion. Run that by a freeper (guy) next time you hear that bs excuse...

1. we will have single-issue voters on our side
Right now most pro-choice voters don't really consider the issue on election day because they assume the Fed. Court is looking out for them.

2. it will be up to the states....
then you'll see people crossing state lines or national borders to obtain an abortion. Back alley abortions will exist in the states where abortion is illegal and once again, women will die.

The argument I like to make starts out by asking someone who is anti-choice whether they want to throw pregnant women in prison for attempting to obtain an abortion. It's odd how so many fundies think that making abortion illegal again will stop the actual practice and so they rarely ever consider the possibility of these women being charged with a crime.

3. Might make a few people less likely to reflexively vote Republican
when they actually see their actions have consequences that affect them.

Maybe they won't fall for the anti-flag urning, pro-pledge of allegiance, anti-gay marriage candidates quite so easily.

4. Miers pledged support for a constitutional amendment banning abortions
Senate Receives Records on Nominee for Supreme Court
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

In 1989, Harriet Miers pledged support for a constitutional amendment banning abortions except when necessary to save the life of the mother, according to documents...

Dobson was right. Miers is a good stealth candidate!

7. the mother's life is in danger....
a lot of arguments one can make there.

what if having to have a child traumatizes her so much that she's a suicide risk (or like me, the hormones make you a suicide risk)? and having a child to support with no job options puts them both at risk of starving?

abortion isn't going away unless unwanted pregnancy goes away. it's just a matter of how humanely people want to deal with it, both for the embryo/fetus and the woman carrying it - coathangers in a back alley, fearing prosecution, or medicine in one's own home where you have the opportunity to deal with the event in whatever way you see fit, whether a mourning ceremony or giving thanks or nothing.
