Armed Forces Radio Cancels Ed Schultz! Demand Pentagon Air Balance!
I just received this email alert... :grr:

Armed Forces Radio Cancels Start of Progressive Show.
Demand Pentagon Air Balanced Programming, not Propaganda!

Our men and women in uniform deserve to hear all points of view.

Call the Department of Defense Office of Public Affairs to demand they allow Schultz's program to air as scheduled!

Dear xxxx,

In yet another act by the Bush administration that appears aimed to quash dissent, a senior Pentagon official has indefinitely delayed the debut of Ed Schultz's popular progressive talk show on the American Forces Radio Network (AFRN).

Assistant Secretary of Defense Allison Barber's decision to cancel Shultz's show looks a lot like retribution for his Friday program's broadcast of excerpts from the now-infamous satellite feed that captured Barber "coaching" troops in Iraq for a supposedly unscripted Q&A with President Bush.

Call the Department of Defense Office of Public Affairs at 703-428-0711 to demand that the Bush administration stop using your tax dollars to silence criticism of the government! Tell them to allow Schultz's program to air as scheduled!

Schultz would provide a much-needed voice of balance on the AFRN network, where the schedule is packed with such well-known ultraconservatives as Rush Limbaugh, Dr. Laura Schlessinger, and James Dobson of Focus on the Family.

Call the Department of Defense Office of Public Affairs at 703-428-0711 to tell them that our men and women in uniform deserve to hear all points of view. Demand they allow Schultz's program to air as scheduled!

Tell us how your call went by visiting http://www.pfaw.org/go/report

European edition, Wednesday, October 19, 2005

WASHINGTON — A liberal talk show host scheduled to begin broadcasting on Armed Forces Radio on Monday is blaming political payback for a last-minute decision to shelve the show.

Ed Schultz, whose daily radio show is broadcast in about 100 markets in the United States, said he believes his on-air comments last week criticizing Pentagon officials prompted them to scuttle plans to send the show overseas, despite months of planning.

“They knew exactly what kind of program they were getting,” he said. “This looks like a get-back to me. They don’t want any other voices on the air.”.........

I thought it would have been posted already. I am out of town and not on much these last few days so I was hoping to not be duping.

9. You're welcome
I think this is a really big deal, and it isn't getting as much "play" here as I thought, so I'm grateful for as many threads as possible.

I enjoyed leaving my comments on the message line - doubt anyone will call me back, though.

13. I would like to suggest another approach as well
If you call DOD, they'll put you on hold, take the phone off the hook, or dump the calls to voicemail. It is how they handle that shit.

I would urge everyone to CALL, FAX and EMAIL their congressman, even, and especially if, he or she is GOP. Call their DC office AND call their local office.

Starter talking points: It is unAmerican to censor the only radio outlet available to our service personnel in foreign lands; people defending our nation deserve to hear both sides of the issue; the cancellation was arbitrary and retributive...

Write down what you want to say before you call. Keep emails, faxes and letters temperate and reasonable.
