Red Sweater Project
I just saw this in my latest "Vogue Knitting" I got yesterday.

http://www.redsweaters.org/RedSweaters.html

She's gotten knitters all over the country to knit miniature sweaters, one for each soldier killed in the Iraqi Occupation, and she's hanging them on a tree in front of her house. She's doing it as a way to make the deaths more real to people and bring the war home.

She's almost there, actually, but I'm thinking of knitting one up, anyway. I wonder if anyone's told Ms. Sheehan about it so she could go see the project.

1. I'm a Knitter, and I Vote!
Great idea! Of course, I was thinking of "knitting shrouds."

4. Me, too!
I take out my frustration while watching Tweety and the rest of the punditocracy by ... FURIOUSLY knitting.

10. I still add "Knitters Against Bush: Don't Unravel Our Rights" to
my e-mails and all, even though the site isn't still up and running. I also like the Stitchin' Sedition group in Oregon and their Cafepress stuff with "Make Sweaters Not War" on it. I need one of the bags now that my shop isn't going to happen for a long time. It won't matter that people know I am a Dem now. :D

9. Two thousand of those would be hard.
I thought of that too. I also thought of a helmet liner for each to go with the boots that one group uses.

I do like this idea. She only has about 600 more to go.

2. Black sweaters would be more apropos.. Republican-Red sweaters
would be interpreted by the right wingers as a positive thing to "honor the soldiers"

7. She's had comments on that.
She chose the color to remind us of the blood they've shed, not as a party-affiliated color.

be able to make a sweater, of course, but what a great idea!

8. She has a really easy version of the pattern.
It's in four pieces, and she'll even sew them together for you if you send it to her.

Ha! Thought you could get out of it, didn't ya. ;)

12. I'm a knitter. Chicks with sticks, unite!
I have no Red Heart in my store ;-), so I'll have to go out and buy a skein.

One red sweater, coming up.

13. Yay!
She has just over 600 left to go, but I'm sure she'll need more as the war keeps going on.
