Repug Op on CNN says: Wilson Verified that Saddam buying Yellow Cake.
The Repug Op (didn't get his name) was on with Bill Press in a discussion about Plame Leak. Repug Op said at least three times that Pat Roberts (Head of Senate Intelligence Committee) said that Wilson's report VERIFIED more than anything else that Saddam was buy nuclear material from Niger.

Bill Press didn't refute, except to say that "Pat Roberts is a Republican what would you expect him to say." Press was put in the position of saying to the Repug Op "You're a Liar" which would mean he wouldn't be invited back.

Blitzer repeated several times that "...all the evidence from the CIA has been verified about what Saddam was doing."

NOT ONCE Did either Blitzer, Press or the Repug Op say: "WHERE ARE THE WMD, then?" Not once. Where are the weapons and why do Blitzer and Repugs still get away with LIES?

3. Pat Roberts report was almost all LIES to cover for BushInc's lies.
That's why the DSM letter of inquiry in the Senate was so important. And only TEN Senators signed it.

21. Not trashing Press... As I said...he couldn't jump up and scream "LIAR!"
I reported it as I heard it. And knew what tremendous pressure Press is under. I think that Press kind of looks at this crap from Blitzer as some kind of "cross to bear." Press is looking at the "Big Picture" and he knows the Bushies are on the "ropes."

Point is, though, that on Blitzer's Media Whore Fest...folks are too timid at going against the Repugs.

The "Fear Factor" seems to reign out there..:-(

23. It's clear the Repug Spin was "Wilson was a gaddabout and his wife was
a secretary for the CIA" and both have already been discredited as "partisans" BUT WHAT ELSE CAN WE GET ABOUT FITZ'S INVESTIGATION.

They've MOVED ALONG...from Wilson/Plame. But the "Elephant in the ROOM"
IS ...IRAQ WAR...and the hoked up, toked up fake intelligence spewed forth from Chalabi's (PNAC/NEOCON) MOUTH into Judy Miller's typist fingers.

It might be that the PRESS want's to move on to DEBATE about IRAQ and WHY we invaded (for ratings given Bush's bad polls, and their own whore, corporatist agenda.)

YET...the QUESTION REMAINS...Joe Wilson exposed the LIES and those of us here on DU question the MORALITY...or LACK OF MORALITY, leading AMERICA INTO WAR!

That's the focus...MORALITY....BASED ON INTELLIGENCE OR NOT? Where is the line between MORAL OBLIGATIONS and INTELLIGENCE? WHERE IS THE VERIFICATION BY OUR PRESS? And, should THEY be held accountable?

A great National Dialog is in the making. But, those doing the dialog are "SUSPECT" themselves.

12. Never ceases to amaze me
Why is it that only antiwar voices are in constant danger of being discredited? A pro-war talking head can apparently never be discredited, no matter how many times he cites "evidence" that's proven to be false.

13. Sort of true, IIRC
If I remember correctly, Roberts (along with Hatch I think) added an addendum to the official report that included, let's say, unsupported conclusions that the committee as a whole wouldn't have agreed to. So, I think he's sort of right, but he might just as well have said that it was Roberts's opinion and not the committee's finding.

16. What a douchebag.
I just caught that segment. He lied about all kinds of things including that Ms. Plame SENT Joe to Africa. And nobody corrected him. It's really important that these incessant lies are corrected, and I know Bill Press knows the facts. Then again he was correct in saying we are WAAAAAAY beyond that. Pathetic Republicans.

27. Then again, maybe there are just too many lies to correct!
Plus they keep saying them over and over again. It doesn't matter to them what the truth is. Their anemic excuses about the CIA outing have all fallen flat, and they are about to experience the repercussions of treason.

28. Just like the lies Tweety and guest whores were telling on Mushball
tonight, including the thing about Wilson saying the VP sent him; he said if I remember right that the notion for the trip to Niger came from an inquiry from the VP's office, but the Reich Wing keeps twisting that in an effort to further discredit him.

17. They Must Have Been Talking About the Senate Intel Report on Iraq
Where Wilson and his findings are discussed and it's bullshit.

Wilson's report did no such thing. Wilson's report merely did not REFUTE that even though the claims he was looking into were DEBUNKED that Iraq could still, somehow have tried to aquire yellowcake from Niger. Just for the record, Wilson also did not refute the possibility Aliens from Tralfamador could also somehow be trying to get yellowcake from Niger. It also referenced some info from the CIA and other intel agencies about documents purporting to show Iraq sought Uranium from Niger, however, the only docs anyone has ever seen are the awful Niger forgeries and it's assumed that that's what is referred to. It's a big circle jerk where all the intel agencies were referencing eachothers reports about the same forged documents and then using these bogus reports to bolster and "confirm" the phony intel.

their ability to spread distortions and lies about this and "play to the Middle."

Still, have to say it's getting out there to the masses...and the "intelligent masses" are scratching their heads about this time that I'm typing this post.

18. These people still think
we FOUND WMD in Iraq. They think those trailers really WERE for biological weapons. They think there WERE terrorists in Iraq before we got there. They think the aluminum tubes WERE for enriching uranium. They think the Iraqis DID greet us with sweets and flowers. They think that pulling down Saddam's statue was real. I could go on for an hour.

20. Note that Wison stated that it was Iran NOT Iraq
Originally erroneously reported by the Washington Post and since corrected. But that doesn't stop the ratbastards from spreading the lie.

From Media Matters:
http://mediamatters.org/items/200507190005

"Falsehood #3: Wilson's report strengthened "the case against Saddam"

Barone also falsely claimed that following Wilson's trip, "the report that Wilson sent the CIA said that Iraq had sought to buy uranium from Niger in 1998, unsuccessfully." In fact, following his trip, Wilson reported that Iran, not Iraq, had attempted to purchase uranium from Niger in 1998, according to the Senate Intelligence Committee's report . Barone was apparently echoing a July 2003 Washington Post article that erroneously reported that Iraq had attempted to purchase 400 tons of uranium from Niger in 1998. The Post has since added a correction to its article.

Barone wrote:

"Moreover, the report that Wilson sent the CIA said that Iraq had sought to buy uranium in Niger in 1998, unsuccessfully; agency analysts concluded, not unreasonably, that this strengthened rather than weakened the case against Saddam."

Because the statement about Iraq in 1998 is false, Barone's assertion that the CIA concluded from this that their case against Saddam was strengthened is, of course, also false."

So...given that any Repug on the face of the American Continent is NOW fighting for their life...one does know that their ability to distort, disinfo or outright LIE...is sort of a Given?

How can we believe a "word outta their mouth's?"

Sad that it had to come to this...but it "is what it is, with those folks." :-( And, they are here in my family, they are our "brothers and sisters." And yet, THEY HATE US!
