1. Watergate really was a "two-bit burglary" as Nixon called it
It was the coverup that really made it a scandal.

Plamegate though, actually exposing and ruining national security assets of the US by government officials no less... pretty damn heinous.

2. Plamegate, because
1. We have no idea if or how many people who worked with Valerie either died, or were killed because of some idiot releasing that info!

2. It takes 10+ years to set up a good CIA cover and all it's links. That leak destroyed decades of work by the CIA.

3. Paying attention to Wol;son's report that the yellow cake issue was false COULD have prevented Shrub from invading Iraq, and thousand of all sides would not have died!

Watergate simply exposed a crooked power hungry administration!

3. Both are symptoms of larger corruption.
Watergate was not Nixon's dirtiest deed. Remember, Nixon clandestinely bombed a foreign nation, pretending to the nation and to Congress that he did not so order. Fixing intelligence is small potatoes compared to that.

Both Watergate and Plamegate are symptoms of presidents who rule rather than lead, who have no regard for separation of powers, who see their political ambitions as the nation's calling, who act through a small, loyal clique, who have no regard for the institution of law.

4. The original crimes cannot be compared, Plamegate is so much worse.
And the conspiracies to cover up the crimes must be evaluated in light of that fact.
