Have we forgotten to thank who made this possible.....JOSEPH WILSON
Where would we be without Joseph Wilson? Having the courage to bring this accusation, exposing this doctored pre-intended plot to invade Iraq.

He took relentless abuse in the media, the White House attempting to discredit him as a buffoon, as a disgruntled democrat and vindictively wrong in his assertions that anyone outed his wife.

I didn't see anyone speak up for him. Not once did I see or hear Valerie Wilson comment or issue any statement anywhere that would have given a corroborating voice to his assertions. Yet he persisted and turned what was only a small snowball into the glacier this is now.

Without Joseph Wilson, there would have been no grand jury, no anticipated indictments for Bush and his corrupt cast of accomplices and the light of justice would never have been shining.

Regardless of what Patrick Fitzgerald announces when he stands at that podium shortly, I for one, would like to say'

Thank you Joseph Wilson !

14. Nothing has been achieved
At least not yet. I completely agree with the sentiment and hope with all my heart that Fitzgerald's investigation brings down what I truly believe to be a criminal regime. However, as of yet, "all of this" adds up to nothing.

Take it from me. I'm an Astros fan.

The article that started IT ALL:
"What I Didn't Find in Africa" by Joseph Wilson.

That's why we are thanking him. For without Wilson's courage to write that article, then the Bush Administration wouldn't have had a motive to out Valerie Plame (Wilson) and all the rest of that followed....

17. Valerie Wilson was prevented by the CIA from publicly responding.
Wilson said so in an interview as I recall. Which is why you didn't see or hear her issuing any public statement. She was prepared to (I think the vehicle would have been an op ed in the NYT if my memory serves) but the CIA wouldn't allow her to do so.

23. That's why he had to stand alone.
The White House was in over drive trying to blow him off the news.

And without his claim that there was a quid pro quo of revenge by outing his wife for his contradictory report, and the lie about yellow cake being purchased and stated in Bush's state of the union address, there would have been no outcry for the CIA to investigate.

Without his report and insistence of its content, it would have been white washed and summarily covered over just like they did with Richard Clarke. Nothing would have been on the front page of the New York Times. Had he not persisted, we would have no reason for anticipated collective joy here. No need for popcorn, or champagne. Cheney, Libby, Rove, and Bush would not have need for Pepto Bismol in both pockets.

Wilson may single handedly be the one responsible for starting the demise of this entire Bush administration.

I can't thank him enough.

19. I also thank Jon Stewart and Keith Olbermann and Al Franken, among others
for giving Joe Wilson a platform to tell his side of the story. In fact the Wilson story is the reason I first started watching Olbermann, who I had assumed was another right-wing hack like Matthews, etc. But Olbermann was the one who revealed that the WH had distributed biased talking points for the media to use when talking to or about Ambassador Wilson. That opened my eyes, and I've been watching Countdown ever since.

So thank you, librul media.

And most of all, thank you, Mr. Ambassador.

Guess what Joe Wilson told me today (the yellow cake guy)

Well, me and about 2000 others. Jay Inslee put together a panel in his district to discuss Iraq and former ambassador Wilson was on it. Someone yelled out that they enjoyed him on the Daily Show -he said he had enjoyed doing it.

But my BIG news....One of the questions for him was about his wife and whether there is an investigation about that. He couched his answer in a hypothetical-

(I paraphrase until the last part)

"If that had happened and she isn't an agent, she would have much explaining to do to friends and business associates. It would be very inconvenient and could be seen as an intimidation of others who might speak in dissent toward the admin.

Were it true, lives could be put at risk. Were it true, there would be first an internal examination by the CIA- I assure you there are many professionals there that know what they are doing.

The FBI would then investigate- Even though Ashcroft is the AG, there are many professionals there as well. In that case, I would surely offer to be of any assistance to them that I could be.

Trust me when I say, nothing would please me more than seeing Karl Rove frog marched out of the White House in handcuffs -and when I use that name, I've measured my words"

The bold part is nearly verbatim -I wrote it down as soon as he said it. ROVE.

TWO THOUSAND people. On a Thrusday. In the afternoon. In the suburbs. I am so impressed with my community.

Go buy his book. The Politics of Truth. He and his wife are out of a job.
Excellent read, with his stint on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, which he described as "I was more excited than I had been for any other television appearance"...... and more. Don't want to spoil it for you.
P.S. Joe, I love you. Thank you for telling the truth.

41. I saw him speak on Monday night in Worcester MA and shook his hand.
The highlights were:

his saying that he has no intention of running for office UNLESS Condaleeza Rice runs (he said in that case, he will run against her no matter what and that he'll chase her down).

He spoke about both Iraq wars, and his experiences in Africa (coups, dictators and other unsaviory characters).

He joked about what he learned about his wife (first in her class with an AK47....he said they don't argue much anymore).
...............

In my mind, he's a true American hero. I feel lucky that I was able to shake his hand. I got a signed copy of his book (dated this week).

43. A LESSON in all of this: STAND AND FIGHT AS WILSON DID. It DOES matter!
We need to remember this example: Wilson did NOT meekly take what the White House dished out, as they expected him to do. They are "all-powerful," right?
WRONG.

Wilson's letter to the NY Times sparked a concatenation of events, as we are seeing now. Not only the Plame affair, but so many other scandals are coming to light now that the dam is finally starting to burst. As I was remarking to merh today about her own contributions:

A single ripple starts it:

http://www.acquisitionworks.com.nyud.net:8090/images/waves/Drop%20With%203%20Ripples.jpg

which leads to THIS:

http://www.rit.edu.nyud.net:8090/~andpph/photofile-c/splash-water-waves-4565.JPG

which leads to THIS:

http://www-personal.engin.umich.edu.nyud.net:8090/~hjhuang/New%20Zealand/Wanaka/Ripples%20in%20water%202%20websize.jpg

which culminates in THIS:

http://www.spartanburg2.k12.sc.us.nyud.net:8090/OES/Ocean%20waves%20clipart.jpg

Which has far more power and sweep than would be guessed from the small start.

We also owe a special debt to Rep. Conyers for his unceasing pressure on this and so many other issues.

By the way, don't miss Keith Olbermann's coverage tonight of the news today of Bush's apparent involvement in Plamegate:
