4. I've been in a newsless office all day...
This was a shocker to me. I'll have to hunt it down. Thanks.

2. Emphasized that it's a RUMOR.
Dana Milbank on, doesn't believe it's true. Thinks it's "zany" even though it turned up in US News.

5. To tell the truth, I don't believe it either
Not until and unless it becomes a fact. But let's face it, Cheney will not go down easily.

6. Now that would be nice!!

Something about him really rubs me the wrong way. (Geeze, when you stand out as a dick among the Bush crowd you're really not doing well are you?)

26. Chris Rock's take on all of this.
You can never have a black vice-president and a white president.

Why?

Because some black guy will shoot the president.

He then went on to explain that he'd be happy to do it himself because all they'd be able to do was put him in jail with a bunch of black guys who'd treat him like royalty for the rest of his life.

And then he'd be pardoned by the black president.

9. If Cheney was not VP, would he not then be indictable?
Oh, yeah, I forgot . . . He's going to be pardoned, anyway.

Nevermind.

13. No way!
Bush would never back a VP who would be an alternative to him as president.

14. It was the talk in D.C. right after the election last year....
Cheney would step down and be replaced by Giuliani.

That would give the GOP a leg up in '08.

24. Not gonna happen. Rudy is not a Bush loyalist.
He'd throw Shrub out of the lifeboat in a heartbeat.

My guess is he'll do a Nixon and pick someone who's loyal, reasonably well regarded and reasonably clean.

Of course finding a reasonably clean Bushite might be difficult.

Barney?

25. I agree...
Bush doesn't do things because they're good for the party, he does them because they're good for Bush. He needs so much constant coddling, I can't see him tolerating Rudy, who probably wouldn't show the proper amount of deference.Bush's ego wouldn't permit it. He'd probably try to appoint some crony he spent summers blowing up frogs with.
