Alterman exactly conveys why I'm feeling boggled
In today's Altercation, he starts out by saying, "When reality confronts ideology in this administration, reality had better get out of the way fast. ... you can view just about any one of this administration’s policies and discover an alarming mix of extremism, dishonesty and incompetence that is at once so vast and so dangerous the mind cannot fully synthesize it."

The malAdminstration's logic base is so different from mine, and the callousness and rapidity with which scandal is piled upon outrage has led to severe brain freeze. It's difficult sometimes to get beyond a tired "Oh, shit" when yet another howler comes through. We seriously need some outspoken and effectivepolitical leadership to speak some truth to this corrupt power.

1. ...almost afraid to watch the news
It seems like every day is yet another outrage.

Somebody on this board yesterday posed the question:"Is Bush 'losing it?" I thought the question was preposterous...but after thinking about it...........

2. I think he never had it
He was always a pathtic frontman for the Bushevik Cartel.

But, like Tiberius and Caligula, when his parents die, either he or Emperor Jeb will show their true colors.

It's a standard Imperial pattern.

You can't lose what you never had.

3. I love this part (and here's a link)
What is so maddening about this story is that outside of the Post and this week’s Time cover — which of course, is hardly chopped liver — the media have decided that a president who lies the country into war is no big deal. This is the same media, you will recall, that thought some semen on a blue dress was one step away from the apocalypse. Why in the world is The New York Times, day after day, burying its (by and large) fine reporting on this incredible scandal? Has the right worked the refs so effectively that post-Raines, the paper’s editors feel they need to prove their ‘objective’ bona fides by playing down the biggest scandal since Iran-Contra? I don’t really know, folks, but this is how it works. When history looks back on this period and wonders how we let this bunch of radicals destroy so much of what was admirable about this country, the complacency of the media elite will be exhibit A.
