3. They're not "typically" right-wing. They're usually leftish-libertarian. |
|
The right-wing has decided to try and claim South Park as one of their own in typical re-framing tradition.

Let's not forget the fact that Cartman is a Republican. Let's also not forget last season's episode of Kenny dying and the PSP. Remember Satan's helper says, "We'll do what we always do, we'll use the Republicans!" Classic.

that they come out and say the RW crap as jokes. and the RW don't get it, and think its funny for the reason that they think its true.
on edit, added that I've met RW co-workers who are SouthPark Fanboys.
I thought the first three years had funny episodes, and funny bits in some of the crappier episodes.

26. I enjoyed the episode |

And again if you can't laugh at yourself you've got your panties too tight in your ass. Only thing I found wrong with the episode is not enough of Butters.

9. But I thought Libertarians were right wing |
|
Libertarians - Aren't they the fiscally right wing folks? That sure sounds to me like right wing folks. How are Libertarians going to show us they're not right wing, if they're fiscally right wing? Fiscal right wingness means one believes the same clap-trap the neo-cons do. Or am I incorrect?

Libertarians all believe in civil liberties strongly, but they don't all believe in civil rights.

Say the words "civil rights" to them, and they'll laugh in your face.

They seem to be of the camp that global warming doesn't matter. However, I try to remember that it is comedy. Still it is NOT as funny.

Remember the "Earth Day Brainwashing Festival" Episode, and it's basic message that global warming wasn't real? They're just continuing their fine tradition.

The last 6 or so before this were also mostly unfunny. They finally hit rock bottom tonight.
Edit: Even Drawn Together, which usually sucks is way ahead of tonight's South Park.

It is a cartoon of badly animated foul mouthed kids. I do believe that they have taken equal shots at everyone. Not everything has to have a political meaning to it, sometimes it can just be entertainment.

21. Satire about ridiculous responses to real situations--I liked it. |
|
Pointed up the weak response from Feds, the misunderstandings about global warming, rampant rumors about anarchy, etc. The show did not let anyone off the hook.

22. Okay, I find S.P. juvenile but my extremely liberal 20 yr. old son loves |
|
this show. I can hear him laughing throughout the house--his latest favorite line was: "Help yourself to a science book!" Something from another global warming show earlier this summer.
I don't know maybe you're taking this show too seriously? I formed a fondness for Matt Park after I watched his interview with Michael Moore on "Bowling for Columbine". He struck me as pretty reasonable and down-to-earth.

25. Southpark: Toilet humor and little else |
|
I think of Southpark as toilet humor (bodily wastes, defecation, spitting, passing gas, urination), tho it involves other pointless shock value topics which are also revolting (necrophilia, carcasses, death, dead bodies, torture, pedophilia, torture, murder, suicide, ridiculing the terminally ill and the aged, etc.)
Kids begin to delight in toilet humor at an early age. I notice that my nieces and nephews (5, 6, 7 and 10) find toilet functions very funny (though they have a far more simplistic vocabulary for such things than some of the expletives used on Southpark). I think it's the toilet humor and shock value that attracts pre-teens and teens to Southpark.
