Being rich automatically makes you a bad person

a christian cannot follow god & mammom, any rich christian is a hypocrite who has denied the word of christ who asks us to give up all we have to follow him, in my book a hypocrite is a bad person

not that there is anything necessarily wrong w. that :-)

a rich atheist may or may not be a hypocrite, a rich christian it's beyond dispute

there are a plenty of wealthy christians who give more than their fair share to charity....

he did not say you could buy him off by giving more than yr fair share

he said you must give up ALL

agreed, no christian is willing to do this, middle class christians aren't either

a hypocrite is a bad person by definition

there are many wonderful, amusing, fun bad people in this world, but they are still bad people, we are large, we contain contradictions

if they did not lie, i wouldn't call them bad ppl, but either we believe lies are bad or we do not

3. Yes. They or their relatives stole it from hard working people.

Since Reagan, the rich people have demanded huge profits at the expense of working Americans and by killing innocent people all over the world. Some rich make their money by selling weapons to others.

The rich steal people's land under the guise of "eminent domain." The rich don't give people fair prices for the products they buy and sell at unfairly high prices, the products they sell.

Usury has helped the rich become richer and the rich are demanding even more profits from this theft scheme with the usurist protection act a.k.a. bankruptcy law.

The rich refuse to pay for government services while accepting corporate welfare from the government. They refuse to pay for the massive military that protects their interests here and abroad.

Rich people involved in the insurance industry refuse to pay for life-saving procedures while taking huge profits from the people who have paid for the insurance.

In countries all over the world, the rich demand that the government borrow money for their luxuries and then refuse to pay the debt sticking the poor people with the bill.

I've often thought about his. Is it just that assholes regularly get to be rich just by being their natural ruthless selves? Or is it just that it's a pre-conceived idea in people's heads and every time you hear about rich people's assholetry you say "There! You see? That's what I'm on about"

I'm reminded of a story about a former boss, an engineer, who started at the bottom, then worked his way to Vice-President. He was an arrogant bastard, condescending to anyone below his rank or mental abilities.
But some other old timers at the company said he used to be a great guy, humble, good worker, brilliant, etc, etc. But as he gained power, he got more and more dismissive of others around him until he became a monster.

During this time of his ascendance, there was a calendar on the wall that had philosophical quotes on it for every month. One month, the quote was, "Money doesn't change a person, it only unmasks them." When this quote was pointed out to Mr. God's-Gift, he got a shocked expression on his face and then stormed off.

Being rich means that you are blessed by god. Being poor means that you are unfit and unworthy. If you are poor, your salvation lies in giving what you have to your favorite megachurch, thus ensuring your salvation. If you are rich, you are already saved, so you need not give.

6. Wealth doesn't make one virtuous, poverty doesn't either.

We are who we are, and being wealthy or being poor are sometimes just luck. That's why the ones with more "luck" have an obligation to share, not hoard. If you give it all away, you have less ability to continue helping those in material need.

10. Of course not- it's the system that needs fixing.

There are plenty of good rich people and plenty of asshole poor people. But our system has degenerated into one in which money=influence, and that's not good.
