Outing Valerie Plame is the tape on the Watergate doors (Lambert, 2Oct 05)
http://www.correntewire.com/outing_valerie_plame_is_the_tape_on_the_watergate_doors

The players are not panicked about the Plame Affair at all; Rove outing Valerie Plame to Novak is the equivalent of the Watergate felons leaving tape on the doors of the Democratic headquarters they were burgling.

9. Here’s what the players—the White House Iraq Group, Times management -- and all the other members of the press who agreed to plant stories -— are panicked about:

The White House Iraq Group records Fitzgerald subpoenaed will reveal a massive disinformation campaign, run from the White House by Bush’s direct reports, and including many hitherto well-respected pundits, reporters, editors, and news gathering operations. (At least 50 stories, remember?) As a direct result of this campaign, thousands of Americans, and many thousands of Iraqis, lost their lives.

15. Very Good! Both of these
articles on the times and judy miller.

It kills me, though, how outting Valerie Plame as an undercover CIA agent is considered in the article by lambert to be the equivilent to the tape on the doors at Watergate.

Joseph Wilson is really a hero like the custodian at Watergate, Frank Wills.

2. think about it...
It's like algebra. Solve for "x"...

tape/burglery = outing Plame/x

"x" must be HUGH!!11!

4. HUGH!!11! But seriously, can the GJ get at classified material?
I wonder how much Mockingbird/Government disinfo/propaganda efforts this can expose, though. Is it possible that we will see the extent of the media manipulation?

10. He wants much more than that.
He wants the classified documents that detail how the case for war was disseminated to the media.

9. yes, but
the investigation has to focus on *laws that were broken*

it is not necessarily illegal to put out false information to the press, or to lie.

forging documents, perjury, lying to congress, these are against the law.

i'm not sure that "conspiring to convince the people of the need for war" is explicity against the law, although it should be.

12. This is what I want to see go DOWN..
"including many hitherto well-respected pundits, reporters, editors, and news gathering operations."

I love this article ..more than any other it shows me how the nyt is a bed of slithering snakes in bed with judy miller.

I remember when the Huge Protest in NYC happened on Feb 15, 2003..and I couldn't wait to see what the times reported. I was sooooooo Disappointed..little did I know how conniving they were then. But, I've since come to learn very well.

14. what is the New York Times motive to ruin themselves?
Do you think it is about supporting Israel, if, in their minds a war in Iraq helped Israel....or is it a conservative kiss-up business reason? I have wondered about this.
