" tell her I just ate an MRE and CRAPPED in the hallway of the Superdome"
Edited on Thu Oct-20-05 01:55 PM by RedEarth
leaked email from the FMEA officials.....

Sharon Worthy, Brown's press secretary, to Cindy Taylor, FEMA deputy director of public affairs, and others, Aug. 31, 2 p.m.

"Also, it is very important that time is allowed for Mr. Brown to eat dinner. Gievn (sic) that Baton Rouge is back to normal, restaurants are getting busy. He needs much more that (sic) 20 or 30 minutes. We now have traffic to encounter to get to and from a location of his choise (sic), followed by wait service from the restaurant staff, eating, etc.

_Bahamonde to Taylor and Michael Widomski, public affairs, Aug. 31, 2:44 p.m.

"OH MY GOD!!!!!!!! No won't go any further, too easy of a target. Just tell her that I just ate an MRE and crapped in the hallway of the Superdome along with 30,000 other close friends so I understand her concern about busy restaurants. Maybe tonight I will have time to move my pebbles on the parking garage floor so they don't stab me in the back while I try to sleep.

7. Brown's press secretary...
...can't spell worth a damn. Wouldn't you think that spelling, being part of basic communication skills, would be part of a press secretary's job description?

19. yes.
Just like some disaster relief experience would normally be part of the qualifications for the head of FEMA, for those of us who prefer the reality-based universe.

8. I saw that last night.
I yelled "Are you f-ing kidding me?" at the teevee. Unbelievable. And what gets me the most is that this woman seemed to think it was perfectly fine for Brownie to take time to go to "a location of his choice". I am far from being qualified to run a national disaster program, but I know damned well I would have done better than Brownie.

27. Years ago, I worked what was called "Protocol" at the very highest
levels of our gubmint. Believe me, that is the tip of the fucking iceberg. I have dealt with assholes who wanted bagels and cream cheese in war zones, single malt scotch in dry nations, MICROBREWERY beer in backwaters that didn't even have a national brand, and who, when provided with a fully furnished (to include well stocked fridge, functional kitchen with full cooking capability, and washer-dryer facilities with an ironing board and a brand new can of spray starch and sizing) expected someone to come to their quarters and DO THEIR FUCKING LAUNDRY (Heaven forbid they might task their own aides, who had to share a similar apartment, with said job, or perhaps DO IT THEMSELVES). These were public servants, whose names were preceded by the word HONORABLE.

Nothing honorable about a LOT of those fuckers, to be blunt.

Some people SERVE their nation, others expect their nation to SERVE them.

FWIW, most of the assholes were GOP, and most were crony appointments.

10. Yessireeeee...she's a Freeper alright. Bad spelling gave it away.
Well, that along with an obvious lack of concern that ONE OF THE BIGGEST DISASTERS IN OUR NATION'S HISTORY WAS UNFOLDING UNDER HER BOSS'S WATCH.

I mean, how DARE these FEMA plebs pester Brownie with their petty problems. Sharon Worthy has traffic problems and busy restaurants to deal with.

 These people are breathtakingly MORANic.

God bless the people who are coming forward with this stuff.

15. I've known Marty and his wife for more than a decade
They're both outstanding people.

When I read Marty's final excerpted passage, I cried.

_Bahamonde to Taylor, Sept. 3, 1:06 a.m.

"The leadership from top down in our agency is unprepared and out of touch. ... But while I am horrified at some of the cluelessness and self concern that persists, I try to focus on those that have put their lives on hold to help people that they have never met and never will. And while I sometimes think that I can't work in this arena, I can't get out of my head the visions of children and babies I saw sitting there, helpless, looking at me and hoping I could make a difference and so I will and you must to."

17. that's the kind of person who should be running the operation ...
I have been fuming ever since I read the article. Mr. Bahamonde's devotion and honesty are truly inspiring, so hearing about what "Brownie" was up to during that time is that much more disappointing. I know some people who were volunteering in the disaster zone -- they were sleeping in their vehicles and living on peanut-butter sandwiches, never mind fancy restaurants! My own situation (scrimping for 2 months after donating to the relief effort) looked easy by comparison.

Please pass my regards on to the Bahamondes, kurtyboy. They sound like wonderful human beings!

And, my family and I thank him for everything he has tried to do.

22. I second that
A big thanks from all of us here. Bravo for all you did and bravo for telling the world about those that did nothing.

Now, I'm still upset the Brown was allowed to lie to Congress. Even without this testimony, we knew at the time he was not telling the truth.
Will there be any prosecution of Brown? Can he just walk away from this just as he walked away from doing his job, walked away from all those poor evacuees?

25. Make that a third thanks!
I heard how * and Friends really made FEMA a horrible place to work, and how many people left the agency because they couldn't abide the incompetence at the top.

Marty sounds like a really compassionate person. We need more people like him in our govt., esp. in FEMA!

Thanks to him for helping to get this story out to the public, and for helping our fellow citizens! :patriot:

Marty,

Thank you for doing the best you could under insane circumstances.

I cried so hard when FEMA turned back the flotillia and I knew old people in hospitals would die.

I kept reading and reading all the ways that our government refused to help the people of Louisianna, and I despaired that anyone involved had a brain in their head, but you were boots on the ground doing your job and you were as outraged as we were.

Thank you for doing your job.

thread title: LAT: "Insider Condemns FEMA Response" -- Stunning revelations of LIES

Not only does Brown appear to have massively perjured himself, but the crucial timing of the notification of the levee breaks is at least a day before the Administration has admitted. Lies, lies, lies - and may ALL of the truth come out.
