Why did Joe Wilson admit to doing drugs ???
Edited on Thu Oct-20-05 03:05 PM by Laura PackYourBags
I appreciate his honesty, but why give the opposition this fuel? Drudge is all over it...

http://www.insidebayarea.com/portlet/article/html/fragments/print_article.jsp?article=3132020

<snip>
Some in the audience urged him to run for political office. But Wilson said he'd been a true child of the 1960s and had ``too many wives and taken too many drugs. And, yes, I did inhale.''

ON EDIT:
Wow -- Guess I was just bitch-slapped. Of course, it doesn't matter to me, it just seems like such an inopportune time. Everyone's right, Who Cares !

1. Because it's truly not that big a deal
Practically EVERYONE was doing drugs back then, and by just coming out and admitting it, he removed it as an issue for all but the most rabid right-wingers.

19. Precisely.
And the sooner Democrats accept this fact of life, the better off we'll be.

We've got to stop freaking out about the "I did drugs in my youth" issue.

26. Exactly. It is going to become more and more difficult, IMO, to
find anyone to run for office who didn't at least try some sort of drugs during that time. I'm not saying that everyone used drugs, but most of the people who make the biggest deal out of it are being pretty hypocritical.

36. Exactly. And it wasn't an issue for Kerry or Edwards who both said they
smoked pot during the campaign.

And....CHEEZUS....it's not the debilitating drug that Repubs prefer - COCAINE .

45. You might want to restate that.
"They admitted during the campaign that they had smoked pot in their youth." Instead of "They said they smoked pot during the campaign."

I'm sure * and friends would have no problem dredging up "witnesses" to Wilson partaking in recreational drugs. One less piece of ammo to be blindsided by.

each passing day ol' matty's "journalistic integrity"--sorry can't even type it with a straight face--slides further down the toilet. smudge may spin and red light and BREAKING all he wants. In the end, smudge is a poor excuse for a journalist, a poor excuse for a human being, a closeted, self-loathing gay that collaborates with the homophobic scum of the Earth.

Don't even go to smudge's website. He just counts the hits to up his add rate.

on edit: I smoke pot too. More people should. World would be a better place. Here, have a puff...:smoke:

42. When I was hospitalized a few years ago the anesthesiologist asked
about use of street drugs while looking through my chart. Before I could answer he noted my date of birth and stated, "Okay, during the recent past 'cause I didn't realize that you were coming of age in the late 60's and early 70's." He was grinning and I told him none during the past decade or so.

I'm sure it will be a big deal to some people, but to most people I don't think it would be that big of a deal - especially if they're remembering what they did way back when.

Maybe Drudge should answer that question publicly as well. I think a huge toke on some paraquat laced weed could explain a great deal about drudge's moronic ramblings.

Wilson should include the next time he asked about it that he just he just hit on a few spleefs at a time W was snorting coke off of the bellies of underage Mexican hookers while on a five day whiskey binge when he should have been in AL serving in the national guard. One can only dream!
