Slow news day spam: What does DU think about UFOs?

It was a slow news day today, so I watched a show on TV about UFOs. To be honest, I have no idea whether there's ever been a UFO. I've never personally seen something I couldn't explain away. I have talked to a pilot who said he saw some really weird craft in his career that couldn't be ours. I also had a co-worker who said he saw one.

What do folks on DU think about UFOs? Do you think the government is covering anything up? If so, is it bi-partisan, or just a Republican thing and no one will tell the Democrats what's REALLY going on? If it's a cover-up, will they EVER tell us what's going on?

Nothing wrong with being interested in UFOs as long as you keep an open mind as to what they could be (military craft, experimental craft, alien craft - who knows).

3. I think UFO's are pretty nonpartisan

No way do I think they are aliens from another solar system,the logistics just don't work. I think that people do see objects in the air that are unidentifiable, but they are probably secret military projects and stuff like that. I read that the military developed an aircraft that can hover like a helicopter.

I get a kick out of those who say "I don't believe in UFOs."

Ummm...UFOs exist. Unidentified Flying Objects. Whatever they happen to be, one cannot argue that some flying objects are never identified...thus, obviously exist in that framework.

Now, as far as what they are in reality...I'm reserving judgement until I have more to go on, though I do think it's possible that some of them are from elsewhere, or elsewhen. I place them in much the same category I do deities.
