Rove didn't rat out Libby

A lot of people are saying that Rove threw Scooter under the bus. I thought that too when I first read the article, but it appears I fell for Luskin's spin.

Here's an interesting quote:

Basically if Rove were to rat out Scooter by saying he heard it from him, he would essentially be incriminating himself because he went ahead and told Matt Cooper about information that he knew was classified. But Rove is claiming that Libby was recounting a conversation he HEARD from a journalist. Rove can't rat out Scooter! As Scooter would say, their roots are connected!

1. All this seems to say is that rove claims to have heard/seen the name

on the news or newspaper. The whole investigation probably revolves around verifying if this is really what happened.

2. I didn't take it to mean that Rove turned on Scooter.

I took it to mean that Rove was trying to get under the same umbrella with Scooter. If Rove heard it from Scooter, who heard it from a reporter, they are both in the clear.
