Cool ! DU is about to break 79,000 registered users...!
I recall what a big deal it was when we broke 10,000 - way back when we were the 10% that were against the war and were trying to tell everyone what was really going on...We have endured and survived thus far. :)

Most of them are still welcome, I am sure. I saw youngred today. He was one of our best "oldtimers".. :)

3. Right after the 2000 election I was an absolute newbie to navigating
the world wide web, but I knew I had to find other people that cared about politics

I started back then at c-span's post it board;I don't even know if they have it any more but all those people back then started linking to other sites and eventually I wound up here

I love DU

6. Things go a lot faster now....especially in GD...
A lot of good stuff disappears, I think? It's inevitable, I guess. It's like a small company that employs a few people to work for them. They are family-oriented and everybody knows everybody, but then they grow into a large corporation and become more impersonal, maybe?
