"The Revolution Will Not Be Televised"
Yesterday on DU, there was some discussion of this film as well as an appeal for a source of it. Somebody provided a possible source, but I've misplaced it. In any event, it was an English site, and more than likely in PAL format. Can anyone else provide possible leads? I'm Googling for it right now, but I'm not doing very well so far.

1. Try Here
I have mirrored a copy of the torrent file at:
 http://www.j12.org/p2p/torrents/
but I have not yet downloaded via this torrent myself to see if works ok, but it seems to have started ok. The mpg file itself is 722MB.

One BT client can be downloaded from  http://bitconjurer.org/BitTorrent/download.html
Note there are several other Bit Torrent clients which have more advanced features..

Bit Torrent gives a download that is can be more easily resumed. So could even use over several many, many long dial up sessions.

Then open .torrent file and save video file to same dir.

if you have problems with bit torrent see:
InfoAnarchy BT FAQ wiki page:  http://www.infoanarchy.org/wiki/wiki.pl?action=browse&id=BitTorrent_FAQ
Detailed BT FAQ:  http://www.monduna.com/bt/faq.html

One can also search for file on various P2P networks using a client such as Amule (  http://www.amule.org/ ).

Listing of videos availiable via P2P can be found via:
 http://indypeer.org and  http://v2v.cc

but so far I have only spotted German version in ed2k network (accessable via amule client)

2. Thanks.
I'm totally at sea with Bit Torrent, having spent several fruitless hours with it on another video quest. I was hoping to purchase a prepared DVD (in NTSC format). But if that's not possible, I should probably spend spend a few hours Googling "Bit Torrent". (Yes, I know "Google is my friend").

This Chavez Revolution may become VERY important, and a lot sooner than expected. It's hard to imagine the BushCo gang actually trying to overthrow him once more, but THEY are a lot more desperate than they're letting on. There was a related discussion on DU a short while ago, and the book "Thy Will Be Done: The Conquest of the Amazon" was mentioned and highly recommended. I ordered it forthwith, and should have my paws on it very soon.

3. Thy Will Be Done
One of THE if not THE best books ever written to give one an understanding of the deep politics and how the world works in this sense.

Have read through the 900 pages twice and refer back to it often. It doesn't read like a dry journalistic tome. It's amazing. Let me know what you think as you read it.

As for another amazing read check out Thomas Pynchon's great work of fiction "V." You'll see how it relates.

10. I seem to have a Bit Torrent download in progress.
It's been running for about 10 hours so far, and the modem & router lights have been blinking furiously all the while.

The trouble is that the progress report shows 0.5% downloaded, and with 47 days remaining. I have the slider set to 587 KB/s, which is what I believe my connection is capable of. "47 days"?? ... am I doing something wrong?

4. I FOUND that DVD at Netflix.
I don't fully understand how it works (I'll have to RTFM), but it doesn't look as though I'll be disappointed too much. The notice came up that it isn't immediately available, and they speak of a "short wait". I'll find out soon enugh.

I haven't watched TV in about 8 years, and that's probably helped BROADEN my knowledge. I was never a compulsive movie watcher, and I was initially leery of Netflix, lest it become a time-consuming habit. Any comments about Netflix from my DU friends?

6. I have a bad feeling about this.
Edited on Fri Oct-21-05 06:57 AM by pnorman
I have a few other good movies on the queue, so it'll work out okay. But if I can't get that one in a reasonable period of time, I'll drop Netflix. It looks like a good concept, but it could turn out to be a massive time-consumer for me.

On edit: SHIT!!! I looked it over carefully and saw where I had the WRONG movie on the list --- "The Revolution WILL be televised". Fortunately, it was "sllght delay", so I took it off queue before it got shipped. I then found the correct movie and added it. It's now below the queue and designated "Saved". I'll see how it works out, but I still have a "bad feeling" about it. I'll give that Bit Torrent another try. And I'm STILL looking for a DVD I can purchase.
