Firefox Hits 100 Million Mark
The Mozilla Foundation's Firefox browser has reached 100 million downloads only five months after hitting the 50 million mark and just a few weeks prior to the one-year anniversary of its formal release.

(Still crashes on me as often as IE...)

3. If Firefox isn't working well for you, give the Opera browser a try
I've been using it for almost three years and it doesn't crash on me.

4. I did that.
Even got a free Opera anniversary reg code.

But when I click on anything that's supposed to drop-down, the menu disappears as soon as it appears.

Thanks, but I'll stick with the odd crash. :hi:

8. I would be curious to know which sites that happens on.
I don't have a problem with any of the sites I go to and I pay my credit card bills and bank online using Opera. I haven't had to use Firefox for months . . . :)

There are some sites that are very poorly-coded however and that could be the problem.

Plug the URL of the problem site/s into this site to see what sort of errors come up.

9. Try playing games at
pogo.com or type in espn.com in the HTML Code Validator.
Firefox has no problem with these sites. Is it that some sites have poorly written code or is it that Opera is poorly written software that expects websites to all change to fit their browser. I tried Opera after using Firefox and I was not impressed but lots of people like it. As long as computer users use anything other than IE they will be safer. I am happy both browsers are taking a bite out of Micro$oft.

10. Opera has an "Open the Web" Forum where problems like you
describe are discussed.

Open the Web

Sometimes an email to a webmaster fixes the problem and that is always celebrated.

Opera is fantastic software, but it is less error-tolerant than Firefox or IE.

However, there are also webmasters out there who are just weird. Every once in a while I follow a link where the webmaster has put in "browser-sniffing code" that detects Opera and directs me to a page telling me to download IE. :puke:

Sometimes there are even insults on that page about my superior software that I bought.

My bank made "improbements" to their website that now requires me to "Identify" Opera as IE. So I hit F12, change the "identity" of Opera to IE and continue with my online banking. Idiots!!!

I did have to use Firefox for a while to send email through Geocaching.com. I was thrilled when they finally fixed the code that prevented that function from working properly . . . and so were the other Geocachers who use Opera.

5. Never had a crash with Firefox and only one or two popups.
I use it fulltime on the PC and Safari on the Mac.

6. Firefox faltering for market share
http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/78517/firefox-faltering-for-market-share.html

New figures from Internet monitoring firm NetApplications shows upstart browser Firefox has lost nearly a tenth of its market share between the months of August and September.
Firefox owned an 8.27 per cent share of the browser market in August, says the firm, compared with September's 7.55 per cent, a drop of about 9 per cent. In fact Firefox's market share has been pretty much on a downward path since its June peak of 8.71 per cent.
