Anyone Else Notice What Utter Liars the "Religious Rightwingers" Are?
Here you have a group that proclaims piety and adherence to Jesus' principles.

But they lie about virtually everything.

They don't have the courage of their convictions to push Bush into nominating a candidate who will truthfully say that he/she is against Roe v Wade and thinks it was wrongly decided and would vote to reverse it. So, instead, they launch these stealth candidates who lie and say that they have never discussed abortion with anyone. Then all the "religious" leaders get on a secret conference call and get assured that the nominee is lying to the public and that she will indeed vote to overturn Roe.

They lie about their real intentions on evolution. They create this absurd phrase "intelligent design" and then proceed to launch state and local level campaigns which push teaching "intelligent design" as an "alternative theory" to evolution. All the while proclaiming with a straight face that they do not want to equate creationism with science. Which, of course, is exactly what they wish to do.

They lie about gays and lesbians every single day. They trot out ridiculous, totally discredited "studies" by rejects like Paul Cameron, which demonize gays with absurdly false statistics about health and lifestyle. Additionally, they agitate against same sex marriage equality by proclaiming they are not bigots, but they just want to "protect marriage." When the reality is that they are the classic definition of bigot: they hold to their views obstinately, in the face of science, truth and fact. No amount of rational reason can dissuade them from their lies.

Their agenda, at its core, is to create a theocracy in America, but you will not find ONE of their leaders with the forthrightness to admit to that as their driving purpose.

On virtually every issue, the religious right are consummate liars. It's not just that they have a different "belief system,", it is that they are incapable, it seems, of understanding the difference between truth and falsehood.

Is not honesty and fealty to truth one of the major tenets of spirituality?

The American "religious right" violate the spirit of truth every day.

It's no wonder Bush and Company are in such legal hot water. The basic morality they and their base constituency propound is one founded solely in complete deception and dishonesty.

2. Yep. Back in 1977.
And it's beginning to wear thin, especially on their followers, who will be the ones driving the money-changers from the temple next time.

4. Look at the recent breast cancer abortion crap
Edited on Thu Oct-20-05 11:45 PM by DanCa
no facts to back them up - that's probably why they made right to life month in october - to get free publicity out of breast cancer awareness month. I do wish people that both attend church and those who dont would stand up to these goons and start picketing them. Thats the only way to beat these fascist if we start acting like a team.

8. My 1st post
Hi All..I am new to this...

Anyway, this is a topic close to my heart...my entire family are Bush supporters and I am the only sane soul in my family.

I am equally tired of people saying they back the administration because of their moral beliefs. My dad actually told me I was going to hell because I voted for someone who was not pro-life. I am over it!

14. I had a fundie say to my face he wanted a theocracy
After I told him that's what the Christian groups funding the Republican party REALLY wanted.

I told him that even though I am a Christian, I did NOT want a theocracy because it would inevitably lead to interdenominational squabbles over who gets to write sharia and probably civil wars. I further told him that I would be persecuted because I am not "conservative" enough; I reject the Calvinist "if you're rich, you must be blessed by God" doctrine.

He didn't care. He just wanted a "godly" government and said theocracy was Biblical. Never mind what Europe did in Jesus' name a few centuries ago...

I don't want to repeat the European experience here. But some of the fundies around here are incredibly dense.:scared:

16. Can't remember who said it (John Stewart?)...
Edited on Fri Oct-21-05 05:05 AM by kiki
...but if they want to run America (into the ground), why don't they just start a political party and field a candidate for president themselves? If, as they claim, their views represent the majority of Americans, they should be a shoe-in, right?

Of course, we all know why - if the public at large saw these frothing, lunatic fascists honestly expressing their policies and views, they wouldn't be able to get elected as dog catcher. So they have to do everything through the proxy of Bushco, and through weasel words and coded messages to their "base".

18. Yes, yes I have.
Biggest lie they tell, the claim to follow the Christ, who's first and foremost commandment was to love God with all your heart (they seem to lover power more) and to love your neighbor as yourself (which, as seen by the lies the tell above, they clearly do not).
