The Department of Defense has identified 1,973 American service members who have died since the start of the Iraq war. It confirmed the deaths of the following Americans this week:

ANDERSON, Norman W. III, 21, Lance Cpl., Marines; Parkton, Md.; Second Marine Division.

FOLKS, Tommy I. Jr., 31, Staff Sgt., Army National Guard; Amarillo, Tex.; 36th Infantry Division.

PILLEN, Paul J., 28, Chief Warrant Officer, Army National Guard; Keystone, S.D.; 249th Aviation.

5 soldiers died from an IED. :(

2. Those five do not exist until families are notified, remains are ID'd
and they are put in the pipeline back to Dover.

1973...people born that year are 32 years old...and could be drafted if the Monkey decides to go off the page...

4. I was watching Lou Dobbs at all hours of the late night/early morning
...and he came up with 1989. 11 shy of that magically awful number, 2,000. Kids born in 1989 won't have to worry about a draft for another two years or so....
