Second Declaration of Independence -- Republicans working on this? |
|
Maybe this is another article I missed but did anyone see Voinovich, R, OH, mention this during the Iraq hearing on C-Span the other day? Does anyone have more information on this? His citation of it was located just after Kerry questioned Condi.

1. Anyone got a link for this? |

Sounds intriguing, if terrifying.

http://www.cspan.org/VideoArchives.asp?z1=&PopupMenu_Name=Congress&CatCodePairs=Issue,C; Look for Secretary of State Rice on Iraq... I believe this is the link where he referenced it - he spoke about 2.22 into the webcast - Kerry questioned Condi around 2.00.

4. Thanks. I'm at work, but I'll try to check it out later. |

Maybe there's something at Thomas about it? I imagine if it had been introduced, there'd be more of an uproar.
And anyway, what are we declaring independence of?
I'd like to declare independence of our foreign creditors by paying them all back and declare independence of all of our leeching corporations like defense contractors and credit card companies, who turn this government against its people.

3. And what are we going to declare independence from? |
|
The entire world? The WTO? Planet Earth? The Milky Way consortium?
I'll lay odds it's just another Orwellian feel-good gesture that is mostly empty, like the Contract on America.
The latter begs the question, since they called the contract with America and it was an oral contract, since they didn't live up to the terms of their contract, shouldn't we be able to sue them for breach of contract?
